Space Saver Tyrre
Discussion
I was having a look at the space saver over the weekend and wondered if anyone has actually used one?
I ask, because I reckon I can reclaim some boot space that I've lost because of the 4WD stuff if I just use the tyre-weld and compressor they supply. Leave the spare tyre at home and have more space.
I figure if I do puncture, it's new tyre time (And not a patch) anyway so tyre-weld wont hurt?

I can't fault your thinking. I used the space saver once on my 996 when one of the rears went. It was fine until I tried fitting the punctured wheel into the boot. It didn't fit. That's why there's also a plastic bag in there - the wheel had to go on the back seats. Good job I didn't have any children or luggage with me. Used the tyre weld once on my 997 and found it much better. Even drove on it for a couple of days before getting tyres replaced.

IIRC some new Saabs are supplied with tyreweld only and no spare.
I ditched the spare from my 996 C4 and and had no issues (mind you I didn't get a puncture!).
My theory was if i got a puncture I could use tyreweld/AA, if it was anything more serious (tyre blow out etc) I'd probably have other issues anyway and be needing the AA regardless.
