RMA Nurburgring weekend
Discussion
Just back from another superb weekend at the 'ring... Well done to Graham and Amy at RMA for putting on a brilliant show. Amy - you're going to be missed!
A memorable weekend for many reasons, here are some random thoughts;
1. a 993RS on road tyres is faster than a 997RS... in the wet
2. the 997 in GT3 or RS spec is THE must-have accessory of the moment on trackdays
3. Alan - nice to meet you, in a traffic jam, outside Brussels. certainly helped to pass the time...
4. is the person who crashed "reg/car removed" - a pistonheader? if so are you okay and what happened? Always sad to see such a fabulous car crippled
5. 993s are getting rare on trackdays. Last year there were loads, including several GTs. This year no GTs, no Turbos, only 3x RS (me, Piers, Thomas Schmitz himself) and a black lookalike RS
6. is Schwedenkreuz really flat in a 996RS on semi-slicks?? cant get my head around that
7. best sounding car: the Ferrari 300LM. 4litres of 420bhp V12. Sounded even better from inside steaming up Kesselchen - thanks Mr Dron!!
So thats another 1650km driven, 280litres of fuel consumed and well north of a grand spend. There is no other way I would have rather spent my weekend. I gather there was a GP on??
Anyone else got any thoughts/observations/stories/pictures?

5. Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a 993 GT?6. is Schwedenkreuz really flat in a 996RS on semi-slicks?? cant get my head around that
6. Schwedenkreuz is not flat in a 996 Cup car on slicks - not even close - so it's certainly not flat in a GT3RS on MPSCs, or whatever.
Whoever told you that was being optimistic.

Cheers.

We had a good weekend,
The (reg removed) driver was a tool, on saturday, an hour before his crash, i was flying along kesselchen, when half way there was a marshal waving a yellow flag. So i slowed down and proceeded with caution. Then just before the fast right hander before Aremberg, the spanner driving (reg removed) flies up behind me, sticks to my tail and proceeds to overtake me into Aremberg whereapon we see a beached E36 M3 Racer with broken car parts and crap all on the track.
Said he crashed because of a "blow-out"...sure...
Overall though a good weekend,
best,
adam

The 996 GT3 Cup provided me with a grin that I have yet to wipe off my face. Not all that handy around the carpark, in fact I was lucky to evade the warders from the National Home for Spastics, it really comes alive on the track. What a car!
Sure wish they would park those coaches elsewhere...

a 993GT is what has been retrospectively called a 993 GT2, after the name was introduced for the 996 series. The 420/450bhp 2 wheel drive monster with the tacked on wheel arch extensions...
Okay, thanks.a 993GT is what has been retrospectively called a 993 GT2, after the name was introduced for the 996 series. The 420/450bhp 2 wheel drive monster with the tacked on wheel arch extensions...
As there was a GT1, I wasn't sure.
Btw, did someone seriously tell you that they took Schwedenkreuz flat in an RS?
