Hi all,

I need to get a new spare key for my car as the person that I bought it from only had 1 and the none remote when i bought the car.

so, i've spoken to the OPC and they only want £240 for the pleasure..
£180.00 for the key, then £60 for the programming.

I think that this is a tad expensive, considering it will only really be used as the spare key.

What are my other options on this? the key is a double remote for the roof and the doors, I understand that i need the key, then the programming done.

does anyone know anywhere else i can get this done at a reasonable price?

thanks.

Try David Underwood at Swifts Performance in Sheffield if you're close. They sorted the keys/alarm on my old 993.

Yeah but for a 993 you can just use a key from any old shed.

hehe

I think you'll (sadly) find it's OPC only with the 996s frown

240 is correct as pre-discount price. I recently got a new key fob for my C2 (as only had one when I bought it). Was quoted 'about 250' from the OPC which didn't seem too bad for a Porsche as one for my VW costs 180 GBP anyway.

If you're a PCGB member, you can get a 10% discount - mine worked out at 215.42 incl the VAT in the end. (broken down as approx 59 for key, 88.80 for remote controller and 49.50 for the 'supply and code' = 30mins labour, before the discount.

Hope that helps.

Diesel,

I checked the perks fromt e PCGB website and didnt see them mentioning the 10% discount, I was thinking of joining being new to Porsche ownership but wasnt sure you got it.

not all OPCs honour the 10% discount. From memory, OPC West London, East London do and a few may even give a discount on oil! Possibly not enough of a discount to stop those PHers who are Costco's best oil clients wink

There are other outfits which also offer the discount. If you're a member on the PCGB forum, you should be able to view it there or send an email to those nice people at Cornbury House.
