That is really serious. dreadful beyond my capacity to describe. I was hoping for something long sleek and elegant. This is the sort of c__p that Austin Morris used to peddle. People have a nerve criticizing the Jaguar XJ for being 'old fashioned' when the 'modern' is exemplified by stuff like this, Mercedes current range of barges, the BMW 7-series. The only one that cuts the mustard is the Maserati QP and even that is beginning to look a little overdetailed. I would much much rather have an XJR.
You can see what has happened. they have looked at a Maserati 4200 and thought, 'We could do that'. The best you could say is that its going to look a little like a 911 from the front.
Maybe Porsche understand the psychology of people who buy Lexus's though I'm
ed if I do. I am a massive admirer of Porsche but this is horrendous.

It shows the proportions which are unusual, yes, but to get a good understanding of it's look (and decide to hate it) I think is a tad quick off the mark!
Perhaps it will be a marmite car like the Cayenne, which many people have grown to love?!

I bet a great many people criticised the 928 on its inception, yet few these days would argue with their looks and especially their capabilities.
still, it does nowt for me either
Actually it won car of the year when it came out and has often been put up as one of the cleanest car designs ever, it should have been the next big thing,,,,,but it largely failed. I guess this is why Porsche are so risk adverse that they just want to make every model look a 911 that has morphed into a different car.still, it does nowt for me either

The 911 guys squeeled about the 928, all the factory Porsche drivers elected to drive the 928 for their personal conveyance, in lieu of the 911 when given the chance, and the 928 was never campaigned by Porsche in competition. Sad, because in private hands today it is a very cometitive and fun machine to drive and watch too.
The big problem with the 928 wasn't the complaints, Porsche hardly listens to people wringing their hands and whining when they're making money. The 928 was designed with a 6 liter capability, but was trimmed down to 4.5, finally enlarged to 4.7, becuase it was designed on the cusp of a major fuel crisis. Sadly, had the fuel issues been different at the time, the car may have been more attractive.
Cost was the real issue, however, becuase the cost of a new 1983 928S with substantial options is not far from the price of a new Corvette on the showroom floor in 2007. It was a "cost is no object" tour de force, built with exceptionally high quality castings and from a clean piece of paper.
This new Panamera looks like a mutant, hardly a new and totally fresh engineering concept that has some of the best conceptual purity from Zuffenhausen. This is the true "Little Bastard".

I don't think that they did. The Jaguar XJS was greeted with gasps and groans, and the jury's been out so long they've probably died. The 928 was always a very good looking car - few people said anything else - modern, capable, but it was a victim of its time. In the late 70's they thought that the sports car was a thing of the past and what people wanted was stylish anodyne safe conveyances to take them from one drug fuelled Jason King Style orgy to the next. The safety lobby was on the up,and rightly, it looked as if open cars were going to be illegal, full stop, government control and general left wing attitudes looked as if they could wipe out exclusivity of any kind. The resulting car wasn't powerful enough it was automatic and it was easy but not that exciting to drive, really. Its easy to forget, but we are living in a very good period in the history of the moptor car.still, it does nowt for me either

This genuine rubbish sadly just suggests that Porsche have run out of ideas.

Jeremy Clarkson has stated that Porsche designers are the laziest in the world, and while the 997 is x% new and better than the 996, which was x% new and better than the 993 etc etc etc.... they all do look pretty much the same... and the Boxster... and the Caymen, and to a lesser degree the Cayenne.
So what we have here is a 911 design that's been stretched, but given headlights more akin to the CGT to remove that pure 911 icon, the round headlights.
It's pretty from some angles, but then again so is Patsy Palmer... but I wouldn't shag her.

Look it like this:
Panemera or the new Maza GT?
If it really does come down to head ruling heart then really just accept reality and get a 535d or one of the diesel Mercs.
I really hope this car fails. If it doesn't then it really does prove my theory that a great many wealthy people have no taste.
