preempting the cries of "why would you want to listen to music just listen to the engine" Lets say hypothetically, one was going on a long journey, and wanted to take some tunes of dubious taste with to make this imaginary journey more pleasant. There seems to be some sort of media card slot (mmc?) that can play mp3's. I currently have my music stored on an Ipod using Itunes - Does anyone have a clue how i could transfer music from Itunes to one of these media card jobbies?

Thanks

Presumably you just need a USB memory card adaptor which the PC will then see as an external hard drive so you can drag the tracks over.

This sort of thing:

That said, if your tunes were downloaded from iTunes they won't be mp3 format, they'll be Apple's own (AAC???) that mp3 players can't play!

This is not entirely correct iTunes also encodes tracks in mp3 format. To tell what format you have encoded a track in click on the track and then use File -> Get Info, this will pop up a window and the format will be next to the kind in the summary pane.

You can normally create directories on these cards and drop different albums in different directories, which makes browsing your music much easier.

True, I was being over-simplistic, but IIRC if all you do is leave the default settings and download via iTunes you end up with AAC files. If you use iTunes to rip CDs you can specify mp3. Once they are AAC the only way I've found of converting them to mp3 is to burn an audio CD and then rip it back into iTunes as mp3.

thanks chaps, looks like i'm a bit screwed if they are in aac format then. Might have to investigate getting an ipod lead put in.

IPOD link can be done, I spoke to this company who confirmed they could do it:
