Determined to use my C2, rather than just clean and look at it, I've just booked up a trip to Norway next month. Should be much nicer than using Stansted to Torp by RyanAir again.

So, heading from Harwich to Hoek van Holland overnight, drive up through Holland, Germany and Denmark and then another ferry to Kristiansand in Norway - about 600 miles each way ... can't wait! Will be staying overnight in Northern Germany and somewhere in Jutland on the way back - any recommendations ?

Just got back from doing this - awesome fun. Managed 150 leptons on the empty Danish motorway. Esbjerg to Gothenburg is easily do-able in one go (4.5hrs).

After i wrote it i realised it would not be big enough distance ,, but both citys are well worth a overnight stay

Thanks for the feedback - yep looking forward to it Pikey !

Have already booked the ferries (Harwich to Hoek van Holland) and from Hostholm -> Kristiansand.

Don't like long crossings, so discounted the Harwich to Esjberg one + that one would mean bypassing much of the driving, which, after all, is the point of the trip. [well, technically the point of the trip is a week's work in Norway] but the point of driving rather than flying is to drive.

So, does anyone know where best to stay in Northern Germany on first overnight stop? Thinking of either Hamburg, Kiel or Flemsburg (in germany) on the way up and probably in Aarhus (Denmark) ...

P.s. as much as I like Copenhagen and Gothenburg, they're nowhere near my route - I'm heading straight up jutland and getting a ferry to Southern Norway. Going via Copenhagen/Sweden/Oslo would be a hell of a long way !

If you miss out Esbjerg, you are missing out on seeing some of the most beautiful girls in Europe, the pavement cafe scene and the nightclubs!

I did the reverse on the Furball Viking tour this year. Stayed in Hamburg having come down from Copenhagan via Aaarhus. We all stayed in the Gaswerks Hotel in Hamburg, brilliant hotel

On the tour we went into Stavangar from Newcastle, understatement that the Norwegians are big on speeding.... also seem to deploy a large number of mobile chicanes during the summer

Watch out, Norway has no tolerance for speeding. Custodial sentences are not unusal.
