997 TT or C2S / C4S with performance kit
Discussion
I took a 997 TT and C2S out today, back to back. As others have said before, the TT is savage on acceleration but sounds a bit tame until you really press on and the less powerful C2S with PSE makes all the right sounds without any effort. I am sorely tempted by the TT but slightly put off by the thought that it will probably cost me my licence. The C2S or even the C4S is looking the better option, but I am interested to know
(1) if anyone has gone for the performance kit upgrade (which includes PSE) & what it actually adds to performance on road / track-
(2) if anyone has had the same "dilemma" as me in choosing between the TT and C2S or C4S and how things have worked out (i.e. any regrets?).
Any feedback would be gratefully received.
NB: if the 997 GT3 came with 4 seats I'd have had that in preference to all other 911s ...

Powerkit on 997S is called X51, there's one for sale here, quite rare, not many around, i think the quoted power may be a little conservative...

But the price may be a little optimistic. The according to the configurator, the same car without the X51 can be bought brand new for barely over the asking for this year old 911. £8.5k is a lot of money for 30hp - if it is worth it to the OP then I hope they are happy to take the hit...The one in that link is aiming for a loss of only ~£11k in a year if he gets asking price, and originally would have paid over the base price of a GT3.

I doubt it - different car and different price.I know what you mean about the noise but I doubt many people who are thinking of spending £100k on a TT decide to spend 65-75 on an S instead.
TT is a beast
the performance pack includes PSE (surely a must on any S) so it is under £7k but not good value. Very good value as that £7k becomes £2-3k on a nearly new car, that atlas car is nice at £5k less IMO
why not buy a turbo and add a tubi or similar?

Thanks - I'm thinking of ordering a new TT (been quoted 12-18 month wait) and in the meantime getting a used C2S with PSE to play with. I'll look at Tubi exhausts when I get the TT.
Gotta love the 911
bollox to the 12 to 18 month waitGotta love the 911
call up all the dealers in your region, tell them you want a car quickly.. you will be speccing a slot in a month max

I have a 997 C2S and looked into a 997TT. The TT is weapons grade - just awesome bonkers fantastic. But I figured my license would last for months given the acceleration in that car and my heavy right foot...
If you really want a TT the thing you will have to do is make an appointment to see the sales manager, turn up at a dealer and say "I want this, now please" and make it clear you will leave a deposit right now. Over the phone the dealers get so many test pilots and tyre kickers that they are very very defensive and will quote silly times just to get people to push off. Then they will realise you mean it and crack on. You should be able to get on in a handful of months (at most) rather than the figures you have been quoted. I was quoted nine months lead time by an OPC about one month ago.
