Just a quickie as have found a rather appropriate number plate for the toy.
I really am in two minds about private plates? Some look great, some just look awful. I dont mean one that has screws and warped characters to try and make a '3' an '8' etc but looking at something appropriate for the car encompassing initials.

Any thoughts? It's just something silly I always thought I would treat myself to.... confused

I just bought C2 GBG for my new 993. My view is - why not. It certainly hides the age of the car,

Personalised plates are just too sad for words.

You should be proud of what you own, no matter what it is or how old it has become.

Personal plates are sometimes bog all to do with disguising a car's age, mine certainly are ...

I sold the 911 plate that came with mine to put my own plate on ... my plates means nothing to anyone apart from me and I keep it simply because I like it and it has been on a lot of cars over the past 15 years or so. It's a little piece of my history.

When Gabby was born we bought ** GAB ... she cannot break it, lose it, have it stolen and it is hers for life. £450 for something that will last hopefully 70-80 years or more, not a bad buy in my mind.

Now we have Max I am on the hunt for a MAX plate ... I somehow think that it will cost a little more than Gab's!

As for mis-spelled, mis-spaced and generally tossed around with. Nah. If you want it to say something, buy the relevant letters!

I'm in the middle of purchasing an 850 and one dealer i rang was convinced that his car had a proper 850 plate - 850 XX ... er no, you mean B5 OXX rolleyes

why would you want to do that? without a plate anyone with some nouse could work it out to within 2 years just by looking at the car

I think personal plates look great on old bangers, but a bit pretentious on high end cars, but thats just me. Also a pet peev is when people have a M3 for example, then incorporate M3 into the plate. WHY???!!! we know its a bloody M3!.

Personal plates are great, they just change the looks enough to be a little smarter than a bog standard plate.

However, clever letters to make words like B1G B0Y or G1NGR make the owner look like a tosser!

I think they can certainly add to the look of the car, afterall, each plate takes up quite a large portion of the front and rear of the car so why not have something which a little more pleasing to the eye.

By the way, if anyone is interested I have C2 CSL for sale wink

Subtle enough???

Dunno, the boot might look a bit naked without a model number on it?

So if I put that on my car people would think it is a 997 GT3 and it would be worth more.....

Is that because it reflects how you will feel when you see the depreciation on it?smile

With regards to age, it makes your car look much older. A normal plate for a 993 would be L-R reg (1993 to 1998). The C reg plate is from 1986, so age wise according to the plate your car looks like an '86 model. That's 7-12 years older than it would with a proper age related plate.

The age related element was in fact hardly a factor in my choice of that number. The C2 followed by my initials was the clincher. As an aside, nobody would assume the car to be 'C; reg - unless they were a real numpty.

My point is that some people choose a non aging plate purely for that purpose. I considered that this one served both purposes.
