Hi all. Thought i'd introduce myself following the recent purchase of my new pride and joy, defecting from camp BMW (Z4M). I have a Cayman S (if you hadn't already guessed tongue out ) with PASM, Sport Chrono, Short Shift, Cruise, Auto Climate and Mats biggrin . I'm soooo pleased with it; best car i've had although could certainly do with a few more horses but i won't get onto that subject argue . the "M" certainly had more grunt but the handling of the CS more than compensates (my 12 second lead over them at Bedford Autodrome proved that wink - got a 3.35 btw).

Welcome - I have one on order and the wait is killing me!

What colour/interior did you go for?

Sorry the important bit was missed out. It's guards red with black interior. I've not had it new although it had only cover 2700 miles and waited a week after they'd given me their loaner for the weekend biggrin . I'd contemplated a new one but couldn't really afford the £50k price tag my preferred spec would have attracted. I can imagine having to wait is a complete nightmare. What have you gone for?

I went in for quite a heavy spec - if I can find the list I'll stick it up.

Do take into account that I'm in Dubai where the cost is significantly lower.

Found it.

Heavier specs than Elton John?

Welcome to the world of Porsche K Man S. Brace yourself for constant taunting by those jealous TVR boys, and many many more. Be ready to be told endlessly that you can't afford a 911 etc.

If I had some cash, a Caymen S would be my weapon of choice (unless i had LOTS of cash n then it would be CGT or 911 GT1)

As it stands, I'm a poor backwater humble chap and my 944 keeps me happy. Except when the gearbox keeps fecking me about grrrr

Thanks everyone. Having come from BMW, believe me i'm used to the banter. BTW, a poor mans Porsche is the Z4 laugh not the Cayman or Boxster.

Having spent the day thrashing the proverbials off the CS at Bedford Autodrome, i can say that there's no shame in spending £30k less. I was 2 seconds off the pace of a GT3 and some of the elder brothers were spinning left right and centre - obviously trying too hard with the CS in their rear view mirror angel. Let the flaming begin redcard.

Not surprisingly so. Cayman S is a highly competent and easily exploitable car. It's faster on Hockenheim than the standard 997. Also it's much easier to drive fast.
