Are rear seats now an option with the folding bucket seats in the 997 GT2

Also my gt3 rs is so good I would be tempted to remove the roll cage and fit them and rear seats for the times when I have to swop cars to pick up the kids.

Any thoughts

If the GT3 is marked as a two seater on your V5 then you can't put 4 seats in it AFAIK. Homologation, insurance, etc.

Seem to recall that if notified insurers do not have a problem with rear seats being fitted.

Would Porsche sell the GT2 folding buckets or do we think they would fit them and rear seats in the GT3rs under their specials type scheme

My guess is that they'll be an option of the 997 GT3 Mk 2 (but probably not the RS due to the 'cage). smile

I think it would seriously open the cars up to more buyers if they released them with rear seats - i would have defineatly bought a GT3 if it came with rear seats.

don't believe this is the case, the folding GT2 bucket seats are only billed as making rear luggage access easier not for occupants

{Checks V5} FWIW my 996 GT3 (Mk2 with buckets but no cage) is listed as a 4 seater, even though it has only carpet in the back.

As for installing the GT2 bucket seats... Take a look at the bucket seat option price for a GT3. Add a hinging mechanism and side airbags (look up the GT2 brochure - they are there). Anyone out there seriously think that you will be able to put a set in for less than £5-7k? And I don't think that they will exactly be lightweight either.

Worth it? - you pay your money and you take your choice...
