Checking the option codes I find 150 is 'without catalyst'.

So pardon me if this appears to be a muppet question, but would a de-cat make any difference as looking under the car it certainly looks like a bulky cat is fitted....?

The de-cat pipes look to be completely smooth from a gas flow point of view - or would the factory solution be suitably researched?

hides and waits for the knowledgeable ones to turn up

More to do with gas flow I think. Cats offer a degree of resistance to exhaust gases. Remove this and it might be the rate limiting step to getting more power

That's my point - I had looked underneath and thought it had a cat from the look of the thing, however having checked the option codes there isn't one fitted.....

Am I nuts here?

I would like to improve the sound and gas-flow and thought a de-cat would be a good first start - however I'm thinking a cup pipe would be better.

Thanks!

Digging a bit deeper....

Would a cup pipe be better on a daily driver than a G pipe? I'm thinking noise/drone factor?

OK - suggestions for another forum where 964 owners could answer the cup or G question please?

PPorche club if you are a member or ring a good specialist. Jaz in Wembley JZM Kings Langley, Northway Reading. I think GT1 in Chertsey might be the Porsche Club 964 specialists, but I could be wrong

titanic 964 group or 964 yahoo group - details from the 964 register secretary at PCGB or Rennlist.

I had a g-pipe and it made it a lot noisier outside. There was no drone whatsoever inside. Cup pipe is a bit noiser I think; two together is crazy.
