GT3 in need of new discs/pads
Discussion
Front discs in particular need replacing (will be at Spa later in the month). Is there a big price difference between OPC and good specialists like JZ Machtech? Any good specialists in the North Bucks/Silverstone area?
Car is 99% road used so I'm not sure it is worth replacing with current discs with anything non standard.
Thanks for your views!

Hi Andrew, Speak to Dom or Andy at Fearnsport re Performance Friction offerings. Not that familiar with the range, and whether you can just buy pads for stock calipers, but they certainly seem to be getting press, for what seems to be less dosh. PH'er gfreeman (Tim) has just got seom Perf Friction kit, by the seems of it.
Go to Dom and Andy at Fearnsport.
I run the Brembo full floating with RS 29 pads, not cheap on 1st install as you need new bell housing aswell. After this just the disc gets replace much cheaper than standard and last between 10 and 12 trackdays with pads around 6 days.
SRF fluid is a must aswell and suggest getting a bled every 2 - 3 track days.
I think Andy can supply other makes aswell, my advice just go for grooved not drilled.
On the rears the main advise is to stay standard pads and RS29 pads, however i will try the 997 discs next as they are 10mm bigger.
Key is to do a cool down lap before you come in, if you go very hard and just stop you can do a set a pads in 2 days (they break up from the heat)
Remember full floaters rattle like hell, you can buy sprung bobins to stop this but I sort of like it, sounds more like a cup car.

If I were you I would price up all four options...
Stock,
Brembo front stock rear discs, RS19/29 pads
Alcon front stock rear discs, RS19/29 pads
PFC front stock rear discs, PFC pads
The latest gen Alcon are nice but pricey, especially at first install.
Avoid the Brembo rattlers as the noise means that metal is hitting metal and the result is wear. Use the bobbins. I have heard and seen bells/discs that have a consideral amount of movement between the two components, threatening to shear the fixing bolts.
Lot of people don't like the wooden feel of the RS19/29 and opt for the grey or orange pads but this is at the expense of greater disc wear.
As PFC's come highly reccomended and are so cheap compared to the rest I have decided to go with them. Will be on track in 10 days time....

Hi Ross & Allan!
Not actually been using it all that much - it has been spending its life in UK whilst I've been in Hungary, but I'm moving to Switz in a month & the car is coming too!
I'm sure Gilly wouldn't try & agree she drives it quicker than me Allan, seeing as I'm an international racing driver and all
So what are you guys up to these days? Ross, been out on track in yours since that fab training day we did?

gfreeman, how did you find the yellows?? I am considering going over to them despite the cost, I have some performance friction carbon/ceramic things I can't wait to replace.
The wear is superb, outlasting any other pad/disc combination I have ever tried. The major drawback is they are a bit 'wooden' compared to the more agressive pads.
I have been told the PFC 97 compound is more agressive so interested as to why you can't wait to get rid of them??? seeing as how I have them as my noo setup!
Dunno what perf friction ones I have exactly, they were on the car when I bought it and invoice says Perf frict carbon ceramic.....they make the worse noise ever unless braking hard, chew the disc and leave deposits causing uneveness in response....standard Pork discs fitted.....tks for the feedback,,not over keen on wooden feel aspect though...cheers
