997 GT3 Order c@#kup
Discussion
Well,
I have more details about my 997 GT3 order.
The Supplier requested a price for a spec. this enquiry was taken as an order (even though it bared no resemplance to any spec. I had produced).
A few days later an order form was filled out to my excat spec. and an order was placed along with my deposit etc.
6months later - wrong car turns up bearing no resembalance(sp?) to my order / the order form.
I'm lead to believe this is a cockup by Porsche, also I am told that they are unable to come back until the 13th of August with a response as to whether my actual order exists because they are all on holiday over there.
To make matters worse I went to see a s/h car at an OPC which pretty much the excat spec I ordered and they wanted a 3k non refundable deposit to hold it for a week. I was not willing to pay this as there is a slim chance my car might turn up - knowing my luck though my car will not turn up the second hand one will have sold by then
I now have an agonising wait until next monday.
I can't really consider the RS' for sale as they are out of my price bracket and all the std. GT3's are no where near my spec.

What was the saving over ordering it from an OPC?
Nice to save a few quid but not if you dont end up getting the car you ordered.
There was no saving it was list price. plus 500 quid finders fee - however I only ordered 6 months ago - at the time (Jan this year) I rang up a number of OPC's and the all pretty much laughed and said mid 08 if I'm lucky.Nice to save a few quid but not if you dont end up getting the car you ordered.

I'd relief yourself of anger all over the dealer principle, you'll feel alot better
Pervert!

Sounds like you've been tucked up. Maybe the car you ended up with had been on order for a long time. You'd have ended up with it whatever you ordered....!!
Yours may well be due soon-ish ??
Just a thought !

Have you seen the original order form for your Atlas grey one? Can you confirm independently with Porsche that they rec'd same and on what date?
Besides all that, is the importer not in breach of whatever agreement you had with them and you can therefore demand a full refund? Sounds like it's time to nip this in the bud pronto.
Good luck with successful outcome.

The money is coming back into my account as I type this.
Thing is I still really want the car but it's seems unlikly at this point that I'm going to get it...
The right car is out there somewhere..Thing is I still really want the car but it's seems unlikly at this point that I'm going to get it...

(maybe in boxes at the factory not built yet, but its out there)
I always find a nice cool beer can help..
My first concern would be my money - back in my bank account asap.
This whole fiasco sounds fishier than a Nigerian fisherman with a 'get rich quick' scam.
Porsche and OPCs simply don't make these kind of mistakes with orders, especially on something like the GT3. This side of the business is very efficiently administered. Cars don't go awal.
Best to get your money back and buy a 'physical', new or near new one from a reputable source, whilst the sun is still shining. Then forget this sorry situation and enjoy your car, and sleep soundly at night.
Best of luck.
