I have just seen my 996 drive away with her new owner.
Having fulfilled the boyhood dream of a new 911 and countless attempts to get things right on the Porsche car configurator an amazing 14 months of ownership has come to an end.

It was an intersting sale and the 21 year old new owner is nearly as excited as his 19 year old brother who is getting his tomorrow, more intersting was the time I spent in the Macca this afternoon.

As far as an ownership proposition the 996 are a cheap car to own,I bought from Germany when the Euro was weak,I factored in my costs of 1 service and road tax, after may sale price my only expense was 9 months of insurance and petrol...not too bad.

I now have the garage space for a 993RS so if anyone knows of a tidy example please let me know.

Are you looking for LHD or RHD?

If RHD, there's a nice looking silver car with clubsport spoilers in this month's 911 & PW for abour £53000 from memory. The autoclassica cars look ridiculously over priced.

If LHD, try:
- Thomas Schmitz at H&S Automobile. He's got a few in stock, and I got my 993RS from him - very accurately described. I would recommend Thomas highly.
- There's one or two at Auto Kaiser (never dealt with them - http://home.mobile.de/cgi-bin/hpsearch.pl?kundennr=504674&sprache=1&waehrung=&sort=2)
- There's one at the OPC at Baden Baden (www.porsche.de/german/deu/dealer/badenbaden) - sounds nice - 20000 kms and costs Euro 66000
- Or Martin Pearce's supercharged RS (www.mcp-motorsport.com) which doesn't do it for me at all.

If you want LHD I may be able to find a few others.

Regards

Zubin

Gorgeous car, and so sudden a loss...

Still, buying a 968 and then selling a 996 C2 will please the water colled front engined brigade no end...!!!

It was definitely down to Daddy...good luck to them.

Randeria, thanks for the links.I prefer rhd but would look at lhd if the car was spot on...The black baden-baden car looks great, the only thing is with the recent gain in strength of the Euro it works out to over £46K,,,if i am going to buy lhd i would prefer to buy it already over here and don't really want to spend more than £40k on a lhd car.
I saw the silver uk car advertised, the last couple of rhd cars i know that sold went through at this price with 20k odd miles, this one is private with 40k miles, seems enough money...still may be worth a look.

William, drunk again mate!? The front engine water cooled brigade should not read too much into my recent Porsche purchase & sales...with nearly 10years development and 5 times the purchase price, the 996 is quite simply a much better car and probably the best I have owned. The 3.2 CS are great Chris harris summed it up in the recent autocar article, nicely.get it right and they are great, thay are about finesse & balance, but not quite enough grunt and the brakes are way behind the standard of modern Porsche.I have very fond memories of times spent in the CS (tks lisa) and of driving it,but fancy a fresh challenge a good 993RS is out there with my name on it.

That was a very quick sale Paul. I have to say though, the idea of running a 968CS and a 993RS would suggest you may have been listening to Domster too much. Have you considered a 993tt of the Derestrictor variety ie 490bhp++ to compliment your track day car?

Cmon Dazren, there is no hope, Pauls clearly joined the official masocist's (is that how you spell it?)
club, self wipping...daily visit to dentist..giving his other half his credit card & saying "spend what you like dear" &..... blasting down a B road in an RS, it's like all the above at once with free blurred vision thrown in !!!! Hard ride who said that, sorry Paul only joking I know it will leave all but the Radicals & caterhams for dead on track. Thinking about it sell the 968, buy a Caterham, leave every one 4 dead on track, spend rest on Turbo, best of all world's... stuck record, biased me no no no !!!

Daz,I have considered the 993TT..it may happen but I personally prefer 2wd.There are some seriously good cars out there, partly due to my prudence in purchasing Pork I like the rarity aspect of the RS,which should help keep depreciation at bay. The euro/£ is currently 1.42 ish, when I bought my C2 i did the exchange at 1.16.The consequence of this is that there are no bargains to be had overseas at the moment, lhd cars seem to be more of a bargain in the uk,on this basis.
I have the luxury (?) of running the CS until i find the right car.

Hi CS, as an aside, i have been without mine for over 3 weeks now, and it is all very distressing, i took the plunge after loking at yet another carerra last month, and decided to better my SC rather than having a so so later model, so its off to the spanner-monkeys for an overhaul, i need an interior trimmer for the roof lining next, but where are they all?
