Trawling through P UK used cars last night -

The availability of TT's with the 450 bhp engine is NIL.

Was I unlucky last night or do used examples remain elusive??

I've driven the "standard" TT for a weekend - how dramatic is the increase???

Any comments gratefully received!

Thanks - Greg (aka Buster)

not sure about acceleration but at our day at the 2 mile straight the x50 tt was 11mph quicker than the standard car, 192 mph Vs 181.

Careful with that comparison Craig, in that the standard car had a 5 speed tiptronic gearbox as opposed to the X50 having a six speed manual.

Buster my X50 will be at pistonfest, are you there both days?

DAZ

Edited to say my OPC can count on one hand the number of X50's they've supplied. I've never seen one for sell via the OPC computer database.

Yes - I am at both days of PH.

Love to have a chat - I've been on/off for literally 12 months now on getting a TT - need to get my life together

I LOVED the standard car - but it would be rude not to try and get the ULTIMATE version.... not enough cash for a GT2

I test drove both the standard TT and X50 last year, albeit not back-to-back. X50 torque increase was quite noticeable, plus it seemed to be delivered in a more obvious way - the standard TT is sometimes too unobtrusive

Best thing is to try it and decide if you can justify the price increment.

I know what you mean Daz but to be honest if you nail it in the tiptronic it takes it to the redline in every gear & changes pretty quickly so I don't know that this would make a discernable difference to high end speeds.

Haven't tried the x50 TT (awesome I'm sure) but the standard car is plenty quick enough, Craig believe me when I say you are up to "hello officer" speed so quickly in the standard car, you don't need to be any faster on the road, in a way I keep thinking my TT is too fast.Put the pedal to the metal & a few seconds later look down at the speedo, gawd blimey am I doing that speed !! The thing is how fast is fast enough, I was looking at the American site (Rennlist) & couldn't believe how addicted they are to always adding more power, one thread was even talking about adding Nitrose injection to the TT, unbelievable!by the way Daz is right the tiptronic is slower, it has a torque converter & only 5 gears.

buster I think dazren is @ lemans...so a reply may be slightly delayed.

I know X50 is rare but that car seems a little dear to me...Have you tried the Porsche new car configutor on porsche uk website? If you choose those extras, you will see that the price is more or less what it cost new..these cars have depreciated by 10% over tha last year which is not too bad.I was expecting a £92-94 price.
I am sure you could pick up an equivalent std 02 TT for £85k which makes this expensive.
Imports are fine if you see one just bear in mind that they have 2 year rather than the 3 year warranty which come with Porsche Uk supplied cars.

Buster, I know the X50's are rare but you should be able to find a new import car for less than that money. As the car is a year old I'd expect to see it on forecourts at about£4/5k below list. Might be an idea to check the sunday times.

DAZ

Paul, due to the lack of hygiene facilities I don't do Lemans. Making an exception for PFest, I've even bought a tent.
