I was wondering if anyone on Pistonheads was keeping an eye on the moderating nonsense on the PCGB forum?

Threads are being blacklisted all over the place for breaking the forum rules:

eg:

Rule 12: Do not post questions or comments relating to the appropriateness of another member's post. Do not post questions or comments about the moderating of PCGB forums. In all cases, please report forum activity that you believe contradicts these rules, or questions about the moderating of the forums, to the Forum administrator or, if this does not provide a satisfactory answer, to PCGB HQ.

"the point was just buying a GT3 may not make you a better driver or person."

I can`t agree with this, - I`m convinced buying a GT3 will make me a better driver and a better person

Like Daz, I popped in once to take a butchers, then couldn't be bothered following another forum. If the moderation is even more extreme than what Daz and I dish out, God help them

Bit of an exageration Nick!

One thread was removed, which prompted another thread to be started asking why - the quote of rule 12 above was posted to point out that they should have asked the administrator why the thread was removed, rather than posting a new thread asking why (pretty standard protocol on most forums). The thread asking why the other thread was removed is still there, complete with people whinging about over-moderation!

To be quite honest I'm sick of the whole thing. What was originally posted was idiotic. It was removed as it could have been damaging to the club. then a load of people complain about over-moderation. You can't please everyone.

Not sure I would agree with you there.
Maybe you are not talking about the original original which got me placed on 'moderation' - all my posts are being censored first.

John,

No - not your thread!
This was a post-Le Mans thread - involving boasting about how fast people had managed to go in France. Given that the Club has been dragged throught the nasty stuff before, when 2 members were involved in a fatal crash (for which they were later found not proven guilty), it was dodgy stuff for the club to be hosting.

Some members don't see it that way, believing that admission of twice the legal limit is fine - as long as it is in France where it does not count...

It was a minor thing. The post was removed. The "guilty" admitted it was probably a silly thing to post - and others are STILL up in arms about the removal. Including complaining about it here! (Thanks Nick...)
Sheesh. It was inappropriate. It got removed. Get over it.

BTW, if it helps John, I think you were badly misunderstood in your case.

Well I did twice the speed limit in Belgium a few weeks ago and the police were kind enough to provide written proof on radar, although they charged me a stiff 375 euros for the certificate......

Wonder how the PCGB forum would take that.........

Jeez, obviously missed out on a massive bunfight or three. I thought it was just the TVR lot that scrapped on their forums

I bet the pcgb forums get more traffic now

This John Miles character sounds like a right troublemaker. Daz and I had better keep our eyes peeled LOL Only joking John. Welcome to the forum. Hope it's a friendlier place than over at pcgb central.

Just had a read through one of the removed threads on the NPCGB site.

Quite funny how 'stiff' and 'authoritarian' some people appear to be, although i should add i have no other experience of PCGB forums or chat, but nevertheless.

Nice one - the PCGB has long had these types of ructions although generally it surfaced in the minutes of board meetings or by word of mouth, but always revolving around criticism of officials by ordinary members...might involve how the motorsport activites of the club have been run or questioning the payment of expenses to event organisers...and I remember the kerfuffle caused over the purchase of Cornbury House.......the difference now is simply the internet - In the "good old days" word of mouth or a beer in the pub at Husbourne Crawley was another good way of getting the news around...but only to a select few - the internet enables a lot more people to become aware of issues. But having said that, what is wrong with speaking to the guys at the PCGB if you've got a good idea - if they don't agree you can then go ahead and debate it in public can't you?

That's interesting. long before I got the Porsche I belonged to the Aston martin Owners club, and they had a similar kerfuffle over the buying of their property. Essentially, we thought all they needed was an industrial unit to store stuff with a mezzanine office to work from. They went and bought a barn...

Differnet cars, same situation!
