Decent price for a Boxster?
Discussion
I'm about to buy a Boxster 2.5 tomorrow.
S reg, 18,500 miles, Speed Yellow, soft leather interior. Upgrades include full Porsche aerokit, white lights throughout, 18" Grand Classic(?) wheels, Boxster S exhaust. Single CD but no a/c
Car has been immaculately maintained (and I mean immaculately!), stored in humidity controlled garage, and comes with a full Porsche service history.
Owner is looking for £25,000 - seems to be fair price from what I can tell, looking at Autotrader. Other cars at this price point either seem to have more miles, or no extras, and I know how this car has been maintained.
Seem like a fair price (need to buy it, or something in the next 3 days, because I'm driving down to Italy).
Cheers, CG

...just the fact that it doesn't have AC would put me off - Italy's going to be scorching this time of year and you may not want the top down all the time.
Also, for a 2.5 it seems a bit on the expensive side. Lastly, not sure about 18" wheels on a Boxster.
Sorry about being so negative. Maybe hire a nice car for the three days in Italy and buy something when you get back and have more time to decide?

Don' buy a car without aircon. Travelling to Italy you will be doing a lot of high speed miles. That gets tiring roof off after eight hours or so.
I'm not actually kidding. Aircon is a must.
Also: 18" wheels were not approved by Porsche for the Boxster until recently. (Errrmmm 2001 I think.) I believe some adjustments were made to allow them - I have 18" wheels on my S (no handling probs there!) but I'd be a bit suspicious of them on such an early car.
There ARE other cars out there....I'd skip this one.

Cheers G. Good luck selling the car - if anyone is after a Boxster I'll tip them off. I think you'll enjoy the S - people rave about them.

Have to agree with the previous comments. £25K seems a little high for a 98? S-plate car with no air con. The 18" wheels on such an early car could be an issue.
For what it's worth, things to look out for when buying a 2.5 are: lux pack (air con, 17" wheels, OBC, windstop) and leather. The aerokit (a very personal styling choice) is not worth paying a premium for on a used car.
Your budget should stretch to a decent low milage 99T 2.5 or an early 2.7. Good Luck
