Litronics, Are they worth it?

Dunno. I haven't tried a car *without* litronic. I think that says it all.
The headlights on my Boxster S are excellent...
similary, I havnt tried a car *with* litronic.
The head lights on my 911 are fine. I thought they litronic thinghy was a very costly option when i was specing up the 911, I dont like the fact that they use up windscreen washer fluid as you run out quickly enough anyway.
most of my driving is in the daylight, street lights etc and the normal lights are perfectly suitable IMHO. But then saying that Ive not tried litornic thingy.
Perhaps the best answer would be to drive both at night and see

Superlight...I think you've got slightly confused, there:
Litronic: self-levelling headlights - always pointing at the right bit of the road.
Comes with (also available seperately) high pressure headlight washer which activates by pushing the washer stalk in the opposite direction IF the headlights are on. You don't actually *need* to wash the headlights with it if you don't want to.
When I first got litronic it was the only way to get clear indicator lenses on a Boxster - which I believe is standard now anyway...
I like litronic. Essential...only for helping resale value...and hardly a big deal for that too...

The litronic/xenon lights came standard on my latest Porker, eveybody raved about them, but to be honest I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. OK they offer better low beam spread, but can't say I would rave about them. They obviously ARE brighter than standard because every bugger flashes you because they think you still have your lights on beam !!!

Too true. I even got them checked out by my OPC, but the dipped still seems to too high when other people are in front (should be a rare situation, I know).

Had Halogens on my old 993 then upgraded to HID/Xenon. Difference was staggering. Made night time driving *so* much more comfortable. Best money I spent on the car IMHO.
Eric
How easy was the upgrade
I can see two options avail..
a) the 9m rewire kit
b) replacement HID light Cluster (can get for about £500 2nd hand)
hmmm.
Either easy to do on a 996 ?
Well, I bought the Phillips kit on a group buy from Rennlist, one of the Rennlisters helped me isntall it, was p*ss easy, as he had done it a couple of times before. About 1 hour all in.
Kit was purchased from:

The biggest benefit to me is that they get lane hoggers out of the way faster!
Also, they make the car *look* like a high value item, which I know isn't the most important consideration. Frankly there are some items I believe Porsche should supply as standard fit and this is one of them.

Curiously I have never had that problem.
I think the Litronics are well worth the money. An added bonus is that you just flick a switch in the housing to convert from left to right hand dip!
