Will someone please go and pick Melv up off the floor?

Jeez, 61k for a 993RS. I'd want solid gold door cards for that.

Fair point Daz,,but I would be interested in your choice after you have driven a few hundred miles in both. ???

I beleive recently Autoclassica sold a low mileage rhd car for above £60k,according to their ads anyhow.

I was close to buying a rhd 41k mile car for low £50k,,prices are certainly firm,,once you actually look in the detail and how they are built it seems to make a bit more sense.

As I see it Paul, if you pay £60k plus for a 993RS you are paying a premium for a rare collectable porsche, buying it as an investment to stick in a Michael Jackson Tent and Wheel out half a dozen times a year.

Personally I'd take a porsche for driving so would take the depreciated newer model. Besides, I have it on good authority (ie people who have owned both) that the GT3 is faster than the RS around the Ring. The RS is however air cooled. Hmmmmm.

Don't get me wrong, I like them but would not pay a "collectors" price for a pristine car that I was going to seriously drive.

Interesting, but the authorities we speak to are different,,,the serious RS owners I know have to step up to the GT3 R obviously keeping the RS purely because the refular GT3 does not cut it.
I drove one before I bought my C2 and ended up buying a the C2.

Each to their own and it's good that we all have different opinions and choices, but fastest just doesn't cut it with me.Probably becuase I am ultimately not a good enough driver.

I'm going to add my tuppeny's worth here (as an 993RS owner)....

Walter Rohl did 8.10 around the 'ring in a 993RS, I believe he did it in a GT3 in 7.56 or so. Therefore GT3 certainly quicker (but not by much, and in the hands of a driving genius...)

Auto Express compared a 2.7RS, 911 Club Sport, 993RS and the new GT3 about 2 months ago. Verdict? GT3 fastest, but much more twitchy on the limit. Overall, the 993RS was the one to go for.

Having said that, Evo's "911 Heaven" article in Sep 01 thought that the 2.7RS was the best, then the 964RS then Club Sport. 993RS and GT3 weren't in their top 3, so some people like 'em, some don't.

I love the GT3, but if I had to select one I'd stay with the RS. So I did! I can't see myself ever parting with the car.
