facelifts on a 996
Discussion
The changes made were for the 2002 model year,they came to the UK from oct 2001.
I dont think you will get anything other than la LHD car with a few miles on for your money.RHD cars that are straight still seem to be above £50k.I sold my facelift last month.
Changes;
engine 3.6 litre with 316bhp rather than 3.4 with 299 bhp,,,improvement in torque also...the 3.6 engine is amazing,the flexibility once run in was sublime.
Exterior ; turbo look front lights and new front / rear PU (bumpers) this distinguishes it from the Boxstaaaaa.
Interior has slightly better materials,glovebox,cupholders and electric boot/engine compartment releases,,,you can also open the luggage compartment from the key fob.
2002 models also had the availability of the new lighter Carrera wheel which was not available before.
I never wanted a pre facelift car,,a few days with a facelift seduced me and is certainly one of the best cars i have ever driven.
Read other threads on here as the spec,as in suspension,wheels etc,,,very much determines how the car drives compared to other 996.

Do a search on the differences in this forum as we have discussed it many times.
Basically C4 is more stable but less fun...you have to be a superhero or madman to get into too much trouble in a 2wd fitted with PSM (traction control). personally i will not own a 4 having driven a few variants,,,,I am considering the fun,,if you drive a highish all year,all weathe mileage ..then a C4 is probably the best car you can own in the real world

Love the fact they engineer the 996 and Boxster to share many components - ie the front end and headlights - to save on costs, then spend a fortune re-engineering the cars to look different because of market forces
No, it was a load of disaffected Boxster owners who were a bit miffed about having the same headlight units as their more expensive brothers. No, really
