996 short shift

!Well i have it on my 2003 996 and i do not rate it atall, even worse on track-days as you cant trust it at high speeds when approaching bends, etc. It can be very notchy, 1st,2nd & 3rd gear seem to be a pain to slot into. Its that bad that i asked my local OPC to check it out but they gave it a clean bill of health. In theory it sounds good but in reality is overrated and i guess the small amount of cash to get it fitted sums it up.
I have heard that it is better in the 997.

Got to say, it is not a great lever feel unless you are really heavy handed with it.
I have been told by someone who knows about these things. . .sure not me , that fitting one of these can knacker the syncro faster. I know evoms market short shifts " quick shifts" ( a shortER shift) or you can just fit a billet linkage, which does nothing to shorten the shift but makes the feel a bit more solid/precise and won't wear out/ get floppy like original plastic one. Sounds like the latter is maybe the best option. I am talking here about 996tt, don't know if these comments are valid for a Carrera
