I have just returned from the Cotswolds having had the pleasure of my first ride (passenger) of a 993 Ruf conversion (I think it was the VTR).
My guess is that these could rather be good value, especially if sourced from the continent. I would be quite happy with a left hooker.
My current car is a Griffith which should be enough, but the Porker was truly fantastic.
1) What are we looking at for a 7-9 year old car?
2) Is it better than the standard turbo?
3) Anyone fancy a Griff?

Rufs are quite rare and usually very expensive, in comparison to normal Turbos.
Search for 'ruf' in the Porsche section of www.mobile.de and see what comes up.
You will find that a 993 Turbo offers 'adequate' performance with 408bhp and although RUF may arguably do the best conversions, there are other extremely able tuners able to liberate mega bhp from the 993tt. Derestrictor has one pushing out 490bhp currently, with more to come. The 'standard' 993 Turbo Ruf had a claimed 505bhp if I remember.
A PHer sold a LHD 993TT Ruf earlier in the year - see Dr Alex's review in the Porsche section - for about 36k, which was a bargain as it was commanding no more than a standard 993tt. However, they are specialist cars and items like clutches can punish the wallet more than normal. I believe the aforementioned Ruf cost its owner a relative fortune given the miles travelled in it, so bear this in mind.
