Calling Boxster owners...
My 2.7 is just coming up to 2 years old and the exhaust tip is very rusty. Is this normal, or can a claim be made on the warranty? I'm sure I've seen older Boxsters that don't have this problem.
Also, the front wheel bolts rusted very quickly and were replaced by my OPC. These too are now rusty, but rather than replace them with something that's going to look poor in 6 months time, does anyone know of a suitable non-rusting replacement?
Cheers
Andy

Arwebs,
Thinking you have rust on your exhaust tip is a common misconseption. Your exhaust is 100% stainless steel, thus making it virtually impossible for it to rust. What you can actually see is carbon deposits and road grim. If you take a brillo pad and and some elbow grease you will find that soon the tip will be restored to its former glory!!
As for the wheel bolts, rust is a common problem and its down to the quality, or lack of, on the finish. The only thing you can do is to have them chromed. For other suggestion try here..,

How often do you get a chance to have the roof down in this country, anyway ???

My main concern with getting a 996 is that it would have to be around 3-4 years old and I've seen a lot of really bad ones and not one I would spend my money on - I'm VERY fussy. The closest I found stank of cigarette smoke, and that's something I could never live with.
Also, what do some people do to their leather seats. My car is almost 2 years old and the seats look like they've hardly been sat on. Some of the cars I've seen have seats that look like they've done a couple hundred thousand miles. Perhaps they belong to "boys of girth"
