Hi,

After a bit of advice gathering on here, bought ourselves a 2001 Boxster S at the weekend. Didn't follow all the previous "best advice" though....as car was a bit of bargain ... perhaps they saw us coming.. it's Orange .. I mean Zanzibar Red !

Has Sportdesign 18" wheels, and I think Sports Chassis. Thought it drove fine, but if things get "too much" is it easy to swap over to 17" ?

Is there any point to the Sports Exhaust other than looking and sounding rather funky ?

The stereo (CDR22 ?) has a tape slot, but also an autochanger in the front. Would like to change this over to something that plays MP3's at some point, but I read that you need a special removal tool ? So doe this limit me to getting the OPC to do the work, or will a bloke in van be able to sort me out ?

Many thanks.

Don

The Porsche units are just Becker kit rebadged. You should be able to buy for a 2001 car (which doesn't have MOST) a range of Becker units which will look like original equipment and do the job....

If I was you I'd buy a TrafficPro which does SatNav and bugger the MP3...Or if you must have that you could always get an "On-line Pro" which has MP3, SatNav, Phone and all that stuff - all in a single slot.

If you join the Porsche Club GB their mag has loads of ads for installers of kit...

Oh...I have 18" wheels and it has never felt too firm...you'll get used to it quickly enough.

Yes, it was your previous posts that convinced me that it should be OK. As my current regular drives are a Caterham and a Mini Cooper I am already well used to things on the firm side !!

Nodge beginning to regret those 18 inch wheels now mate? you should have listened to the advice on Blatchat

...only kidding though and glad you did take some advice and get an "S"

....you should come clean though about your intention to chop it in for a Cayenne

I took the Boxster to the local Porsche dealership and they happily removed the headunit without charge.
I then replaced it with a Sony MDX 690 MD Head unit. Great sounds.

I know... wrong wheels ... wrong colour ... wrong interior ... wrongs seats ... wrong rear window

But at least I got the "S" bit right.
