Okay, here's a question for you all

I'm getting fed up having a quick car but only getting to punt it back and forward to work, and the occasional blast when free.

My thoughts have been increasingly turning towards getting something a bit special a la 968 or 968CS, keeping it in the garage as a cherished car, and then have a Mundano or similar for the daily slog to work and back. The 968 could then live in the garage, have love and attention splashed upon it (not that kind!) and I can enjoy something with a bit of character and a sense of occasion at the weekend/out for a "drive"/on holiday etc.

Anyway, that hypothesis leads me to my queries! What are the running costs for a 968 like? I've already got a reasonable insurance quote for a 968, therefore it's more the Porsche servicing/repairs (and reliability) part that I'm unsure of. Bear in mind I'm coming from having had new or nearly new cars, hence used to a manufacturers warranty picking up the tab if anything does go wrong. Having a car thats around 10 years old would be a new experience for me!

My total budget would be around £15k - for that I'd spend £1-2k on the daily hack (picked up from auction) and the remainder on the 968.

Any thoughts would be welcome!

Go to jzmachtech.com they have a service menu that tells you how much each service will cost you...check cam timing gear is serviced...cams cost enough,,,mine had £2k of head work to replace all belts, better to get someone else to pay for this.

I may as well be the first to say you can get a good 944 Turbo for less.

Dave

Take a look at my running costs.
