944 nearly overheating ?
Discussion
My car has a new and not very amusing trait basicaly the fan doesnt cut in to cool the engine until the temp guage needle hits the red line. Anyone else had this ? Is it the thermostat not opening soon enough or is it the fan switch not triggering the fan soon enough ?
Thanks in advance
Steve.

I've had the same on the 924. Think its the sensor but can't budge it so might have to get new rad as well.
Co-incidentally, my fuse/relay box was recently trashed while in the garage for servicing: car was left out, leaves under bonnet, rain filled battery compartment = water in the cockpit. The garage noticed something was funny when all the lights stopped working but maybe it damaged the relay as well ?

(P.S. thanks to dontlift for the earlier tip about sourcing a rad)

Yes, but when the battery tray is full it tends to pour into the car via the heater/air inlet.
This was never a problem as I used to take the battery out all the time as I had charging problems and was therefore always noticing and clearing out the junk. Since the charging problem was fixed (another story) I check it less often and on more than one occasion have opened the bonnet to find water almost level with the top of the battery or gone round a sharp corner and had water pour in onto my feet !
