So lets set the scene, well known Porsche independant, possible trade in against a Cayenne - family expansion and trying to stay with the marque.
Third party trader involved, again well known, first has too many GT3's on stock second one has none hence the tie up.
So whats she worth i asks:-
20,600mls, Cobalt blue, comfort seats, PCCB's (A1 condition varified), RS rear spolier, clutch and flywheel 500 mls ago, etc etc...... Genuinely very nice unmarked condition, warrantied, in my hands a road car not a track car.
Answer? nowt, he don't want it, why?
Cobalt is a 'lairy colour for GT3's and doesn't sell' ?????????
Lack of buckets - yes this i accept, but am i the only man with a todler i need to get in the back for? (1 rear Belt fitted)
RS rear spoiler 'not original or to everyones taste as its not an RS' even though he never even asked if i had the orginal which i do.
Really were his comments.
I welcome your thoughts, maybe its me but i wasn't exactly happy, just glad i didn't buy that GT2 of him three years ago, and the web site is dropped from my fav's now.

Its just his way of saying he doesn't want a GT3 on his stock. Wouldn't take it personally. For all you know he can't really afford to fund it at the moment!
Best bet is private sale anyway if you can put up with the ball ache. If the car is genuinely good it should sell ok. RS spoiler might be worth splitting anyway as they cost a fortune and bound to find someone who wants it.

Thanks fellas,
And no i got no firm offer at all, i think the stupid comments pissed me off more than the fact he did want it - he should have just said, and saved us both the time.
I'm going to have a long think about things over the weekend, i may well advertise it privately if i do i'll give you both a heads up and it will be on here anyway.
Cheers,
Dean

good luck with the sale. i love cobalt
I got a couple of well known independents approach me when I put my GT3 up for sale on this site last year and their approaches were, I am sorry to say, typically niave and obvious. I fully appreciate they have to make money, but here is one set of discussions to give you a flavour. All names removed to protect the inocent
The Approach
We are an Independent Specialist Porsche Centre in XXXXXXXXXXX and are looking for good used stock. Having seen your Porsche car advertised for sale we might be interested in buying it to put in our showroom. What would be the lowest you would take for you car, for a quick hassle free sale, and we will see if the price fits with us both.
My Response
Hi,
I have been approached 3 times, you are the 3rd, with similar offers, and the previous 2 have been simply preposterous. Feel free to make me an offer for my car, and we can go from there. I am open to sensible offers, I am not open to having it lifted for something in the low to mid £40K's, so I will leave it to you. The car is as described, it is a very well looked after and maintained car, with all the big bills paid by me in the last 2 months. It needs nothing, it has an OPC Warranty, its just had its big service, 4 new PS2's, geo for road use by Fearnsport and is unmolested and unmodified.
I am in no rush to sell her and I appreciate its higher priced than some others out there, but I am willing to negotiate a little, but will leave it to you to tell me what you are willing to pay, and we can go from there.
Regards
Steve.
Their Response..
Hi Steve,
Sorry we are not in position to bid on the car.
Thank you for replying to our email.
Kind regards
My Response
So why ask me what I would take for the car if you were not in a position to bid may I ask?
Regards
Steve.
Their Response
Hi Steve,
Sorry, but we did not want to be your number 3 preposterous dealer to bid on the car, as we are also at sub £45K.
Regards
Me
I was offered £49K by my OPC three weeks ago, with a view to retailing it for £53k - £55K, and as I said that was an OPC!
The trade must be bloody mad to think I would accept that price for the car. I have someone driving 200 miles to see the car on Sunday. I expect to sell the car on Sunday, and for very close to the asking price too.
Regards
Steve.
Two weeks later..
Hi Steve,
Did you sell your GT3? We are still interested?
Look forward to your reply.
Final...
The car was sold 2 Sundays ago to the first person who came to se it, and it was delivered to its new owner last Thursday after Fearnsport gave it the all clear. I sold the car for (as close to £50K as makes no difference), which was fine by me. Your sub £45K potential offer, like all those that went before it was preposterous. The car was A1, as confirmed by Andy Fearns and why the hell any dealer feels they would be able to take it off me for less than £45K when they would have done nothing to the car other than wash it and stick £51K - £53K on the screen and put it in a showroom is beyond me.
I knew very well what my car was worth, I knew very well what I could get for it and I knew very well as soon as a serious buyer came to look at it they would buy the car, it was really that simple. The gent who bought it came from 200 miles away to see it, looked around it, drove it and gave me a deposit and agreed a price within 1 minute of getting out of it. Andy Fearns then confirmed it was a lovely example of a well maintained and well looked after car, which needed no work doing, and he went over it with a fine tooth comb including a full diagnosis of the engine management.
I had several industry 'experts', actually let me be clear, the ones offering to buy it off me saying I would be lucky to get £45K for it (which you guys did not to be fair), the market is dead, it’s the wrong time of year, wrong colour etc, the things that most of us regular car buyers have become familiar with and very tired off. Everyone wants them when your buying them, no one wants them when your selling them if the trade is to be believed.
I wish you all the best with 2008.
Regards
Steve
We are all in business to make money, we are not all desparate to sell however so find stupid offers and the same old lines and approaches tiresome. I just thought I'd share an example, the ones on the phone were MUCH worse!
