I was lucky enough to be given 2 pax laps around the ring by a chap who certainly knew how to drive an RS.

But the sound of the engine, the suspension, the brakes and the sense of occasion made the hairs on the back of neck stand up.

I have always liked the RS as it was a 911 I thought I could afford, but always put it off as I am rather happy with my 944 Turbo. But after going in this I felt my car was just so "soft", I know I could get the M030 option for it, but it'll never be an RS

Anyone know of any for sale at the moment

Another converted

Euan hankers after one as well, Dave. You're in good company.

Whose was it? Anders?

There are some quick 964 RSs at the ring. A purple one there last time I went was staggeringly rapid.

Cheers

Anders drives a GT3 clubsport.

Sounds like we've found another addict in the making eh Dom? Most strange though, no mention of testing the entire german brewing industry away from the track.

The car belonged to a chap called Jules, Black with Black wheels.

As for drinking....well I woke up in my bed and remember going to the Lindenhoff

Do you guys know of any for sale at the moment?

I will keep an eye out. Porsche Post normally has one or two per month, but there weren't any last issue. There is a 964 racecar to RS spec going for 18k in circuit driver, 07970 601148 - in speed yellow with rear wing and dymags, but would need work to make it road legal.

Otherwise, find me a 968CS and some change for Ultima bits, and in a moment of extreme weakness I may succumb and let you have the Baron. But a 964RS is that bit more special than even a 968CS, so it would have to be a moment of madness

You could have my 290bhp 58k mile 944 Turbo add some M030 stuff on it, hey presto!

.....I am wasting my time right?

See if there are any out there, then have a look at The Baron in Bicester if not. You are quite near.

I am half tempted simply because my Ultima will eventually be even more extreme than the RS, and no point having two track day cars. My plan would be to sell the Baron when the UItima is ready and not before, but this is a bit greedy I suppose

Why don't you wait until you get the RS back Dom,before selling it....if you are gonna wait until the Ultima is ready what will you drive/do track days in for the next 3 years?

I might take you up on a view even if its just to learn more about them.

We are often up that way anyway as we are in the process of trying to sell a house in Hinkley.

Thanks for all your help

..and thanks Peter for the links.

Yeah, I am v happy to keep it. I'm weak willed at the moment as doing up a house and an Ultima, LOL.

I would replace it with a cheaper track weapon. Either 968CS, E30 M3 trackmeister or Caterham Superlight. The 944 Turbo route could be acceptable, MO30 kit willing.

Head over heart type stuff, really.

Still worth Dave taking a look and having a chat with my tech tho'. They are fascinating cars and I'm sure another will come along on the open market soon.

MCP sportscars had a mint green one in, reduced from 36k down to 28k or something. That looked v tidy.

Cheers

If you get rid and get a 968 / 944 you will only want it back...no disrespect directly at your ability, but it may not be such a bad thing to get more 911 experience...from my 968 experience they are good cars,,,but not that good!
£36 down to £28k for a 964 RS!..I know people who have bought 993 RS in that price range.

Yeah, I would like to spend more time with a 911. They are a higher mountain to climb. As you say, the 968/944 are a little different.

Cheapest I have seen a 993RS is 30k - if you ever see one for 28k you must buy it immediately

You are not disrespecting my ability at all, I perfectly understand.

I clocked up 75 laps (in total) of the ring this weekend and twice I went in to a corner sideways under braking and downshifting. I feel in a 911 I may well have had an armco imprint in the rear of the car!

A 993 RS for 30k! wow are there any more!

yeah, not for 28k though

Price range is more like 32k-40k - you were just trying to be a drama queen

The only drama is actually driving the thing,,certainly within £36-28k price range mentioned on the mint one..enough said.

Fairy muff.

The mint one was well overpriced at 36k though, which is why Martin couldn't flog it. Its true value is about 28k, which is still less than a 993RS can be bought for.

I think MCP and AutoClassica get together and think of a number for their 964RSs sometimes

If you think the 993RS is dramatic, try the 964RS - you are welcome to a run in The Baron at some stage

I have driven them before and fine on a track, but slower on the road as they are too compromised.IMHO..etc......
I have actually been driving my Morgan more lately as a break from the RS.For the mog to be my luxury ride is pushing things a little.

Pretty worn & tracked 964RS's start in the high £ teens, buggered if I'd pay £36K or even £28k (although at least 28K is not to far over priced) for a 964RS unless it was a low miles & untracked maritime blue clubsport tho, decent 'normal' RS examples can be found in the low to mid £20K's.

993RS's will always be worth more simply as A- they are newer & B- they are rarer & C- the market generally prefers 993s over 964s of any flavour D- they are less likey to throw you in a hedge!
