Power.

Some say it's nothing without control and I'm sure that's quite right.

Others say it corrupts.

Well, whether by cosmic design or loin-bursting desire, I feel more comfortable being sectioned to this latter asylum.

The problem is quite simply acceleration. Although I have been labouring under the conviction that Scotty had things more or less wrapped up in the dilithium department, a quick trip to have my new pads appraised by Techus9 ce matin, has thoroughly rebludgeoned into sharp perspective where the new performance horizon lays.

6th-5th drop kicks to respecatble speeds were ok but familiarity is a fickle mistress and the kidney tango that must needs proceed the Schnellenkpof's moment of horizontal hammer/anvil zonkismo, yielded little in the way of the whelping and hollaring that only true power, or a sustained burst of banzai above 150 can precipitate.

To which end, 550-odd bhp really cannot come soon enough.

Blimey DeR, you need to get out more for some high-G cornering to take your mind off the need for Vmax shattering power.

Get yourself to Donington tomorrow night man! I'll give your internal organs a good re-organising for ya.

I'm with JC on this one, get down the track for some twisites tomorrow.

Might I also suggest saving your wallet another pork battering and direct it's contents towards a track toy, specifically an Ariel Atom 2, with a 220bhp Honda V-Tec engine in standard trim.

DAZ

PS - When you come down south to visit the Ariel production facility give me a call and we'll meet up for a Pie and a pint.

UV is on the right lines...take a trip over to the 993TT & 996TT forums on Rennlist to see what the Septic 'sychos get up to.

One must not overlook the effects of excessive pork on your Pork, for unlike other meats where a little bit more is always better, when it comes down to the dual blower variety you will perenially need more stuffing to keep it "entertaining". The problem is that entertaining is certainly the correct descrption for the ensuing fist fight once a twisty bit is sampled, when the laws of physics rapidly focus the conscious mind out of its corrupted high.

I thank the Lord that I like my bacon lean.

I know, a quick 20 minutes in an Elise is probably all that's required but remember what this is about: not just acceleration (and a decent globule at that) but the extent of the sense of slightly violent exposure thereto.

Having been nailed during the on-boost sledgetasticism of the 550+ conversion, I know just how startling this potentially 'not that much quicker' sounding type development actually is.

It's the difference between the opening drop on The Big Dipper and The Big One at Blackpool's unspeakable, ironically labelled pleasure beach.

(As Clarkson put it, "bloody hell fire!")

Thanks for the kind offer of Caterhamic organ splicing, Jezomdo but that much sought rapture shall have to wait until another time (Brunters, sometime?)

And UV - we'll have to compare psychoses at the next Leicestershire runway ent...

Daz - don't be ridiculoius - you of all visionaries should be atune to the insatiable, mindless quest for true Kesseldom.

(Btw, Greg, do you think Craig's 348 will top out above Emm's 160-odd mph t.vel [after you've bought it, that is ]?)

Spikey monkey tree fancier.

DeR I am being serious. Take a look at them. The mark2 is about 500bhp per tonne (with a standard Honda V-tec engine) before tuning and it runs on the same sized tyres as my Orion 1.6i used to in the early nineties. This thing is quicker than the uber pork and can be razzed about on track with consumables costing roughly the same as a packet of peanuts. I guess similar running costs to the Jezmondo superslightr but with more room. Also space to wear a helmet does not appear to be an issue......hmmmm.

I had a good look over the Atom at P/fest,it was probably the most interesting car there for the money as far as i was concerned.Novelty/grin factor over a caterham,,though maybe not ultimate ability.

DER ,i think 9m has a point,,is there not a seperate section on Dr Atkin's website for the TT models?
Maybe an idea..

A-ha, the venerable sage of Warrington...one is honoured by the imparting of such learned wisdom.

Alas, I am deaf to the joys of slim hipped beetlism, preferring the flawed compromise of fat bottomed, leary twitchita.

Thing is, Mr.B - you are am psycho pro - whereas I is but a freshman in the collegiate system of committed 911 matriculation.

It'd be bloody interesting though, to see a duel 'twixt somebody of your eminence at the helm of your latest creation di mentalissimo and a comparable luminary from the world of Strangelovian pro-tweakery in sommat blown, in a circuit type environment.

Our own Domster (a man of questionable virtue) has beseeched me time and again to go down the route of carbonized air vents et al but in fairness to the Reaper of All Things Black, White & Furry his best ever point was that simple recommendation of replacing the cooking Lazee Boy recliners with something resulting in a more altogether 'keyed-in' sensation, namely GT2 buckets.

Which I intend to concur with post-550 upgrade. But other than that, the lard'll do.

By the way, I do hope your spine is ok!

I think we may have a 500BHP Ruf 993 coming on the next brunters outing, supposed to be very fast indeed.

But they all say that before they've nailed it properly down the straight don't they chaps.

Craig, the old diary is filling rather quickly at present, any idea of dates yet?

(sorry to bang on about this, BTW)
