Taken at Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago, its pretty quick hope you guys enjoy, we started at the begininng of the long straight at bruntingthorpe, and only acclerated for one mile, if we had used the whole straight and accelerated from the corner..

Amazing!! Craig...pretty impressive ??? It would be great to see how things would fare with Daz in the TT and an Ultima for example.

Superb, DeR and myself did a standing start from by the corner as opposed to the end of the runway and I reached 186, I think DeR reached 182. Interestingly though using the corner instead of the standing start I only achieved 6mph higher at 192. I have to say though I am a lot easier on the clutch and gearbox when setting off!!

Have you contacted craigw about his Brunters day, date yet to be decided? There should be a fair number of the PH hoonatics attending.

Is anyone welcome? Don't think I'd give you TT guys any trouble with my puny single blower, but I'd quite like to see if I can get the old 930 the right side of 150mph. Bit risky on my local "private test track".

Oh my God.

Daz, DeR, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Given some error on the speedo, what sort of speed do we reckon in old money?

Cool - I've e-mailed craigw and now quite excited about the idea. Just forked out £1500 on new clutch & flywheel after what I initially thought was a hydraulic problem turned out to be a disintegrating clutch cover that ended up knackering the clutch and scoring the flywheel. So rolling starts only for me!

Hold on a minute - AdamTr's profile indicates a 560 bhp rating.

FIVE HUNDRED & SIXTY.

It's just not fair. At all.

Not even gunna try & dowloads with out broadband as I'll be her all nigh & ive got a BBQ at & a nice cool pool to go & swim in in a min

but if its a 996 as per Daz's figs, if its a 993 the speedos tend to be way out as demoed at brunters last time round.

Oi Lizard features, it's only 2.5 meg, even using BT pigeonband in the sticks it only took 10 minutes or so.

I just watched that again...are you sure this is not just a standard Carrera 2 with the electronic speedo set to show Km/h rather than Mph???? You have to bring it along to Brunters to show us how it is done...

Only Joking...no disrespect meant to you or RUF.

Thank you all for the kind words!

Yeah it was raining quite hard but the car is 4wd so....

We only used 1 mile, there was still a very very long way to go on the air strip, i think it is 2.3 miles, so we cold have used say another mile then braked really hard,

Daz, your comment about your standing start being only a little bit slower than your running start was very interesting, i would have thought that the running start would be a lot quicker, were you braking a the same point both times? Very interesting.

The car is a hand built R Turbo, I'm sure i told you guys this when i got it,

560bhp about 600 torque, hit 205mph with Mr RUF when it was finished, with more to go though the gears arent the longer offered which means probably 213-215 mph but in theory marginally faster accleration.

Also when shifting to 5th i think around 130ish, i dont have the video to hand, but we shifted too early.

An Ultima would be an interesting bit of kit to race against, though someone taking one of those to near 200mph is well damn brave

all the best

It sound utterly phenomenal Adam; there is no option here, you have to attend the next session; a perfect blend of multifarious exotica, plenty of time to chat, dawdle and passenger other crazed machinery and of course, toast one's clutch!

I think you'll find you have the fatsest useable car on the planet, if our collective experiences are anything to go by.

Of course, there's chap with a black Ultima GTR who might have something to say about that...

It comes down to basic mechanics/physics (of the forgotten o'level variety) . Basically the distance covered to get from 186 to 192 in my car is roughly equal to the distance covered when going from 0 to 80ish which is the speed I normally clip the corner (parallel to where we did the standing start.

Braking was at the same point each time (about 400 yards to drop from 190 to 80 to make the corner or go wide towards the stored cars!! which was my prefered choice). Unfortunately on both visits to Brunters we didn't have the full length of the track as there were cars stored at the end.

PS - I remember reading your collection from Ruf report, twas a great read.
