Just fitted a GT2 rear spoiler to my 996 turbo X50
I got it off ebay a while ago, it was advertised as damage repaired but a genuine porsche one.
So took a chance, got it for £500, it needed a bit more work to get it right, and there are some very minor imperfections but its good enough.

Some pitures

Nice, looks loads better, back end looks more "squat" now. People will prob tell you not to mix the GT2 rear spolier without having the front end as well for aerodynamic purposes.

Yeah, some of the geniuses on here will tell you that you're going to have a horrific crash because you upset the aerodynamics of the car by not fitting the front spoiler as well rolleyes

Enjoy it in good health - looks great!

Good work, now get a pair of crossplies to put opposite your radials to even out the mismatch.

Well been driving it around familiar roads, and haven't noticed any difference, not that i thought i would. All its doing is putting a bit more downforce on the rear, so it will still understeer, like it does from the factory.
I would put a GT2 front bumper on too, but can't really afford to spend any more money on it at the moment, Recently put a Miltek exhast on it, had it fitted by Mike at sportsandclassic.

Aerodynamically there will be a difference in the cars balance and as you say, with the greater downforce the GT2 wing generates at speed over the TT item, there should be slightly more understeer at speed. But the key word there is speed, on the road you'd be pushing the limits of sense to find the point at which the difference really becomes noticeable, triple digit speeds round bendy motorway slips etc.

Looks great in that colour with the GT2 wing. Are you looking to change the front to match once funds allow? The GT2 is by far the best looking 996 package imho, and in that colour it would look immense.

The GT2 wing looks really good on the 996TT...wish I had done it on mine...guess 997GT2 rear wings will start appearing on 997 TT's now!

yes

Looks great. Soo much better than the standard Turbo spoiler IMHO.

How easy was it to fit? Was it difficult to disable the 'active' element of the standard spoiler?

It was very easy to fit, just undo all the wires, swap the fan over, unbolt the old lid, and bolt the new one on.
The spoiler warning light doesn't come on, i just unplugged the wires, there are two, and they have a relay type switch on the end of them, i just taped them up and no problems.

Robin, looks hot, especially with the Techarts as well, a def "must have" for 996 turbos i reckon. Are they genuine porsche front & back or pattern btw?
