Is it the one that was advertised from a private seller in Norwich/Norfolk a couple of years back?

Frankly the car doesn't look cheap if it is honest.

Gmund had a gorgeous rubystone high mileage LHD in a while ago for peanuts, would have thought that would make a better buy. Especially in rubystone cloud9

I agree with Oliver - go Rubystone. The Rubystone car has covered 116,000 miles and so WILL need an engine re-build sometime soon - but it's not a Jackanory like the silver car. Sorry - the silver car with its story is expensive at £40k plus. Both cars are with the same dealer so you could look at both. I'm sure the dealer will do a REALLY good deal on the Rubystone car if you choose not to have the Magnesium alloys. Harder to sell without them (it's been with the dealer for months to date) but if it's a track car you want or the car is going to be kept on the street then aftermarket wheels or Cup 1s/replicas may be the way to go. For a buyer with a deeper pocket, at £46k max (do a deal) - go for Dick Jones' black RS (much less work to put back to standard).

If the Rubystone car is the ex Willie Green one, it is worth bearing in mind that this car was retailing at a non-specialist on London earlier this year or late last year at £25,995 - consequently I guess there's some profit in there for whoever's selling it now at £33k, which is the price I think he had it up for a while back.

It's well known that it is the ex Willie Green car. Lowest cost 964RS I have seen in 8 months but, likely, needing an engine rebuild at say £10k to £12k -not cheap as such. Clearly, even the trade are avoiding it and they could do the engine re-build at cost. Such a high mileage car, even with an engine re-build is not going to sell at £40k plus so there is no profit in it for them.

How do you get a figure this high for a refresh? I completely buzzed mine at the Ring and managed to get Mr Fearns to do the whole job including many titanium parts for £7k....

Also, if it's had the rebuild done, and bushes, etc are replaced, why does the mileage matter unless you don't understand what a wad of receipts means? This always confuses me why people are hung up on miles, esp. after an engine rebuild for example?

Engine rebuild costs are hugely variable depending on what you have done. Andy Fearns did my 993 RS engine rebuild recently and it was about 13K, but for that I got new conrods, pistons, liners, valves, injectors, bearings, fuel pump, remap, loom and lots of other stuff I can't remember....not to mention pratting about putting the original varioram back on. My rebuild was a comprehensive as it gets without renewing the head or block!

Agreed. However, I don't think to re-life a 964RS engine you need to spend anything like £10k, i.e. you don't necesserily need pistons & rods. Injectors can be ultrasonically cleaned. Loom is hopefully OK, etc, etc

He has not been shy of selling cars with "historys" in the past...
