So is the Cayenne a hit or not? The first paragraph says it is, but the fourth paragraph states "There’s a 60-day inventory of unsold Cayennes waiting for winter on dealer lots." implying it isn't.

Great. More self opinionated nonsense from Mr Farago.

How can somebody say that the Audi TT or the SLK poses a serious threat to the Boxster? Are you missing a screw or something? Have you read any of your peers in the motoring press before committing your thoughts to paper? Well, you clearly haven't so let me enlighten you: to the best of my knowledge in the sector the Boxster occupies the only car recently that has regularly placed the Boxster second is the Z4 - distinct lack of this car in your prose, so I'm assuming your article is past its sell by date.

Secondly, you say that the Gallardo is a more reasonable daily proposition than a 911? Eh? You could buy 2 911s for the cost of an Audi Gallardo. I suppose you'll be saying next that the Gallardo is cheaper to run than a 911 as well.

Thirdly, how can you compare the Audi Continental GT with the Carrera GT? Again, you could buy 3 Bentleys for the price of a Carrera GT, so how can they be rivals?

A faster, sexier Boxster is on its way. Its called 987. Reasons for 911-esque power are well documented, but you have chosen to omit this because it doesn't fit your argument.

Now go write out 100 times "Dr WiedEking". In the meantime, I look forward to your next utterly unbiased article.

Curious article, some good points but some blatant inaccuracies (as stated) which lead you to question the writers integrity on matters Pork.

A V8 Carrera ???? Porsche really do have to dig something out of the bag going forward.
The top boy 996 TT (X50) still has the 450 bhp output available in 1998 for the 993 version.Electronics are another matter.
Most of the competition has upped the ante in the meantime.

Hey, the Z4 beat the Boxster in the last two tests I read. I'm pointing that out - how biased do you want me to be?

Nice 968CS by the way. Bet its a shit to keep it looking that clean.

You know how these group tests work, Greg. Two seats.... 30k list.... sporty intentions...

I could bring out a Waitrose shopping trolley with some Design 90s on it, price it at 30k, and a half decent PR company could get it included in a group test against the Boxster

(Good idea all that rear wheel steer - maybe a tougher opponent for the Boxster than I first thought! )

Oh I don't know. How about: "I love CLK's and wish I had one."

Cheers. Unfortunately it doesn't look quite as nice now after 6,000 kms largeing it across Europe and back without a wash, languishing in a garage in Munich with a busted air-con compressor and a rearranged right rear wing courtesy of a blind Italian truck driver. Poor thing Is there a motoring equivalent of a health spa I can leave it in for a week to be pampered?

Look at what BMW did.

Took the 5 series, put it on stilts and made it 4 wheel drive and made a fortune. And apparently it drives well (for a 4*4).

Cue Porche. Delete the 4*4 and the stilts and 'presto' - a porker '5' series.

Now that would be something worth driving to work in. Or on holiday. Or for the missus.

As long as they dont put that bloody V6 in it.

I have driven both the Cayenne S and Turbo. The S with the standard suspension and obviously the Turbo had standard air suspension.IMO it is utter crap to descibe the steel suspension on the S as harsh. In the real world there is little to choose between the two,and it is the utter nonsense written by such people as the author that has caused the supply problem with the air sus.option on the S.

Blimey, Greg.. what it would be like to be 33 again!
Think its more likely to be towards the end of the month as its October build.
Cheers
