Any 944 owners changed their rear brake pads plus discs recently ? Do I need any special tools ? How easy is it.

Cheers

Doddle 20 - 60 mins tops, no special tools required *except for the bloody big hammer normally required by default to get the discs off (and if the big hammer doesnt work - just get an even bigger one) repeat until the seperate

I think there can be problems with the brakes on the S2/220 turbo due to certain parts becoming corroded and seizing up. When I got mine, I noticed it had recently had lots of money spent on removing all the calipers and refurbishing them plus new front disks. Other than that, I think they're supposed to be quite straightforward (not done it myself though).

Bert Gear at Berlyn Services should be able to supply you with the bits you need.

Brake pads are one of the easiest DIY jobs to do, and if you get hooked on track days it becomes second nature. I would recommend a pair of long handled 'water pump' pliers to give you leverage to compress the spring that holds the pads in. For a brilliant guide for DIY work on 944s take a look in the Garage Shop Manual at www.clarks-garage.com

Disks take slightly longer, just remember to leave the handbrake off for the rear ones

Cheers, to all of your suggestions. I am performing the task next week as I am of the Goodwood revival tomorrow.
