Daz, Grant and all, You were right about the chaps on Rennlist, they do like tuning their cars to within an inch of their lives and most seem fairly knowledgeable, so having done some research - I'm considering taking the plunge with a stage one upgrade! there seem to be a number of reputable and recognised tuners who recommend the GIAC ECU chips and all do pretty much the same changes for the stage one change, which it is generally thought not to need an upgrade to transmission/clutch etc. The issue is I'd have to send my ECU to the states, as I contacted GIAC and they say they don't have any outlets over here! Have a look at www.evoms.com/porsche%20ec%20art.htm It might be the beginning of an expensive and slippery slope to stage 5!! Although the general consensus is that the standard 996 TT is good for about 550bhp and similar hikes in Torque before you have to start changing to the X50 Turbos and clutch upgrades etc. I'm nearly decided..........

Uh Oh, 550 BHP !!!! It won't be long before you are talking Nitro's like these American guys'
Charlie I'd be very interested to see how you get on, particularly if you go for the sports exhaust system.
I can use you as a sort of Guinea Pig (No offence)as I certainly can't decide on which exhaust system is best.
"As they say...I used to be indecisive, but I'm not sure now" !! Keep us posted.

All sounds very interesting Charlie. Keep us posted. I don't suppose this will be done by 12th Oct by chance? Just one word of warning is to consider the effect come resale time if you are planning on swapping to another car in the near future.
