Quick question:

Will my daughter's Maxi Cosi Tobi seat fit in the back of a 997 due to size/shape of rear seats?

I presume not, so if I use front passenger seat how can you deactivate the front airbag?

thanks

I'm making some deactivator buckles up which should do the job for you!

Haven't posted about them yet as the buckle is made but just wanted to pretty it up a bit, but they do work.

wildoliver, count me in for one of your buckles when they are done. I have the deactivator bar in my 996 and a baby on the way, but no buckle.

Cheers

No worries Greg.

I'll set a thread going soon for them, but by all means send me an email.

Adam,

You will need to speak to your OPS as there is a kit that can be fitted that will allow you to switch off the airbag using the ignition key and will also include ISOFIX connectors for the front passenger seat. You also get a warning light on the centre console showing when the airbag is switched off. Cost of parts and fitting at OPC is about 400 quid.

Hope this helps

Nick

Ouch what a rip off. Sure lots of cars just have an on/off lock in glovebox you can change with ignition key.

Want to test drive one this weekend, and want to see how practical it would be with daughter - getting in/out etc

So only Porsche seats fit in the back - correct?

There is an aftermarket one, do a quick search there was a thread on it a while ago.

I'll also be producing an alternative to the buckle adaptor that Porsche markets it will be about the same price as the buckle plate so will save the extra £100 if you don't have it fitted already.

as stated on 987/997 it is not the same kit as 986/996 as you get a key slot fitted to the end of your dash to turn it on/off and isofix fitting for the passenger seat.

whereas you just put buckle in on 996/986.

No but I will be producing an alternative soon.

Basically as soon as I can get hold of a 997 or ideally the disable kit then I can produce one, I should have one in a month or so for the 997, the 996/993 variants will be done in a week or so.

I've had similar problems finding a car seat for my daughter to fit in my 944 S2 (airbags not a problem though). If you want to try out child seats, I've found the best place to go is Mothercare. The staff are pretty helpful and let you try the seat in your car before you buy.
I ended up buying a Mothercare branded seat that does the job perfectly. It will probably work out cheaper than buying one from OPC too!

What are the rules about sitting a child in the front seat?
Does the airbag always need to be off if there's a child seat in the front, even if it's only a booster seat?
