2004 PORSCHE CLUB NATIONAL EVENT
Discussion
Will be at Brands Hatch on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Everything that was at Eynsham will be there, with the added attraction of a track day on the Saturday and Porsche racing on Sunday and Monday interspersed with displays and convoy runs on the track.
Camping available + nearby hotels. Gala dinner in the Foulston Centre.
Gonna be a big one!! Watch this space.

Well, Melv. I'm not afraid of the big bad M25. Mainly because I know the cross country routes!
I didn't do the last two national events because, after Highclere, they were miles away and not being interested in the autojumble, councours and so on there wasn't that much on for me...
But this event sounds absolutely spanking! A track day. AND a race day. And food and wine? At my favourite track? Could not be better.
Count me in!

Eynsham -there was no autojumble, only one person applied the week before.
The Concours was poorly attended, due, the Club, thinks, becuase of the very high standard of previous winners!!
They are looking at a pre-street class at the moment and perhaps a first timers concours with a view to separate classes for street and national.
But an event AND racing AND a track day -whooppee!!!
This has been a dream of Steve Kevlin's for years and he has finally managed to persuade the board.

As its a race day, it will be open to the public (but not the Gala events). Season ticket holders should be able to get in free as well.
Oh, does anyone fancy a hospitality suite for the weekend? It there's enough of us the cost won't be too bad, and its always nice to watch the racing in the warm/dry/shade.
Its also somewhere to keep your packed lunch/ beers cold...

Abso bloody lutely superb ! It's only 5 miles down the road.
Anyone travelling from up north, wanting to avoid the M25, should come straight through the Blackwall Tunnel and follow the A2 until the turnoff for the A20. You have to get through Kidbroke to join the A20 so whatever you do, don't stop the car for any reason whatsoever or you'll probably be car jacked and/or killed. The A20 takes you all the way there.

Excellent...From where I live to Brands,I just about get enough warmth in the oil to start opening her up.
Some great NSL roads nearby with long straights & twisties.
I love the sound of a real track day on the Saturday...now can you try and swing the Grand Prix circuit Melv......a mini Nordschliefe out amongst those trees...

Daz have you considered you might be a great loss to the diplomatic service
Might be a Porsche event but I think given the timing & location I shall travel by 2 wheeled beast to attend from my neck of the woods- this of course does have the bonus of having my crash helmet handy for blagging a ride if Melv & Clubsport are taking to the track with a spare passenger seat
Don- agree ref Highclere, a top venue shame its so far for us tho 'eh Don
Melv- all fab tracks there is no doubt but I'm supprised Cadwell is not on your list, also have you ever done knockhill?

Thanks for reminding everyone Alex, refering of course to what is probably my least considered post to date on the PH (excluding G.Gassing of course). It was however posted with memories of my 4.5 hour trip home from Brands last year after the Porsche Open Series race on a "normal" sunday evening. I have been to three of the PCGB annual events and have had a great day out at all of them. I do appreciate the hard work of some of the members who put these meets together for no financial reward even if my initial off the handle rantings don't show it.
DAZ
(May try and do the day with the racing)

Cadwell -yes, like it, except when I drove they omitted the Mountain Cct and send you around a stupid off camber hairpin that upset the whole flow of the track.
I walked it the night before, and asked the marshall's if anybody wanted to swap my car for a Mini
Knockhill -I reckon it's a ten hour drive from here with trailer. I was planning to fly up to meet the Scottish PCGB boys, but Club cancelled the track day due lack of support!! Looks good on TOCA 2!

PS Dd a Ron Haslam day two weeks ago at Donington Honda CBR 600 -oh, wow! I could get hooked......
