I picked up a short engine for the 944 yesterday, and started to strip it down. In removing the clutch cover, it doesn't seem to want to come off. Looking at the manual that I have, it just says to pull it off. However, it loks to me like the clutch release lever needs to be disconnected first.

Anybody got any suggestions? The pin holding the clutch release lever doesn't look like it's going to want to give up without a fight, so I don't want to end up causing damage.

Cheers

James

Thanks.

I was having a look at the cylinder head over the weekend. It's going to require a special Porsche tool to remove the valves (I have a valve spring compressor, but it isn't going to fit). Does anybody know if they're avaialble anywhere, or are they so expensive that it's cheaper to pay somebody to remove the valves for me?

Cheers

Thanks. I'll give Kevin another call (he must be getting tired of talking to me). It would be handy to get hold of the tool (as long as it's not stupidly expensive), as it's a hassle sending a cylinder head off just to have the valves removed, and then sending it off again to have them fitted again.

Could be worth a punt I guess. I'll have a search through all the breakers out there and find out if anybody has one.
