thanks for your previous responses.

i now have another question! having just found out that a 24000 mile service on my 993 is circa £800, i'm starting to think a specialist is the way to go. any feedback and thoughts would be greatly appreciated as well as a recommended opc and specialist in london/surrey.

someone recommended 911 mobile but i'm not sure.

I use Porsche West London for my FPSH (I know... but it is best for the history). But for all the other work I use Tognola Engineering in Datchet.

Peter and Greg are excellent and both are enthusiasts!

Peter has a 993RS Clubsport and Greg has a 993 C2(much modified)and both have helped me with my 993 C2 Coupe and they have never let me down.

If you want to go a little further out, Ray Northway looked after my 3.2 Cerrera Supersport for 4 years and was superb!

GT1, Station Road, Chertsey. Craig or Peter 01932 569911. Ex-RUF, ex-AFN. Five mins walk from Chertsey mainline station and ten mins from the M25. They've been working on my Porkers for a few years now......

24K service for 993, incl. Mobil 1 and genuine Porsche service kit, £440 + VAT. They also do four wheel alignment (I recommend every two years for road use) and have aircon regas facilities.

Tell 'em I sent ya!!

There's Zest in Aldershot - only used them once so far but seemed OK. Or Camtune in Godalming - never used them but others have on PH.

As a matter of interest if you are going to use an independent what are you doing about keeping up the 10yr body warranty inspection?

Has anyone ever known someone who needed to make a claim on that warranty?

I believe the two yearly (?) ten year body check can be done by any authorised dealer.
On my Boxster I had the bare service done by the dealer to keep the history up to date, and everything else done by a specialist in Leeds.
So no help there then !

Steve-p, yes I did, it was only a small rust spot in the scuttle seam on the nearside just under the windscreen and done without any issues.

The reason I asked the question was that I think you will find that for it to remain valid it needs to be checked by an OPC annually and the service book stamped up. Don't let them try to charge you for it if you are not having the vehicle serviced. The Warranty book says its free (i.e. it was paid for in the purchase cost of the car).
