Trying to get an idea of residual values for a 996 C4S and 996 TT after 1,2 and 3 years? Anyone any idea? A plot is hatching

Check parkers.co.uk, may have something. Otherwise keep an eye on the classifieds.

My hunch is that the C4S may lose less of its relative value, as I think it is a rarer machine.

That just makes the 996tt even more desirable tho'

Would guess relatively that the C4S will lose less than the Turbo.
the 997 is round the corner so I see used later 996's being hit.
Currently OPC's are asking 53k plus for 2 year old 996's & if the 997 is priced as has been reported (£57k ish) then who is going to spend £53k on a 2 year old 996 when they can get a brand new 997 for £57k (thats without extra's of course)
Its difficult to say but I am holding onto my older 996 for just a while longer than I was going to - just to see what the 997 does to prices.
I have a sneaky feeling that I might pick up a 996 at a very good price in a year or so's time.

Parkers indicates that a TT will have lost about 10% after 2 years, which is pretty impressive. C4S loses practically nothing, which is even more impressive. Don't know how close to real life the Parkers guide is though - have to study the dealership lists closely.

Good for the owners, although I agree the 997 may impact somewhat.

Remember the OPC dealers bid £3-5k under what they put the cars out on the forecourts for, got to pay for all that Cayenne advertising somehow.

I dont think Parkers represents an accurate view of TT residuals - a TT in today's market will have lost 20% minimum in 2 years (private) and more if you trade it.

Yeah that was quoting dealer prices on Parkers. Still not bad though.

Read the 997 thread, apparently the 997 TT with 4wd & 460 bhp as standard is due in 2006....I think 996TT prices will be still ok through to 2005 before they start to set up for the new cars arrival.
This will depend of course on how the standard 997 versions are received, but if you have a TT what are you gonna move to until 2006 & the new boss arrives ?

if history is anything to go by 993 TT prices held up really well during first 12 months after the 996 TT was introduced in the UK (from July '00).

I estimate on my 996tt I should get at least half my money back after 4 years and 36k miles. Works out about £1k a month over the period.

I currently run an 03 C4S and from previous experence on a new 996 expect to loose £1000 a month some specs hold up better than others but in the end the better speck just makes it easier to sell and ads little to residuals the C4S is better value than any other 996 because it came with so much kit as standard if you take a regular C4 and ad the extras(excluding the body/suspention) look at how much you would have to spend to match it!

Then I'll buy it off DAZ, run it up to 86k miles for another 4 years and lose £100 a month

That would be an astute purchase Dom. However I doubt if I'll pay the extra £40/50k to trade up to the next generation turbo when it is released. If I have the funds I'd rather keep the 996tt and buy a track car where I can wear a helmet and do UK track days.
