After a puncture yesterday, my local garage did not have the right rear tyres for my 964 c2, as I am in Spain they said that they did not carry the 255/40/17 and it would take three days for them to arrive. I needed my car on the road that day so they fitted 245/40/17 (Hancock) quite cheap to. Will this make a big to the handling as I drive mainly in the city. But I can put my foot down when out of town.

personally I wouldnt want odd tyres on my car, I'd get them changed before any spirited driving although in town it probably wont make any difference.

Well there is less rubber on the road, but as 964s can have 235s? on the rear, I think this is OK. If I remember, only the 964RS had 255s on the back as standard. May be wrong. Not a tyre fetishist.

Technically they should go on the rim OK, AFAIK.

Are they 225s on the back of a 964C2 then? Seems a bit undertyred, but I'm sure only the RSs were 255.
