GT One in Chertsey are the most convenient Indy for me. Anyone vouch for them (publically) or otherwise (by PM I guess)?

I am looking for servicing and fixing rather than upgrades/mods for '73, '91 and '04 911s

Tks

Have used them many times and I'm booked in for work next week too. Highly recommend. Craig and Pete are both very helpful and knowledgeable and prices are reasonable.

Used them for the last 5 years, including two rebuilds (on different cars!) - excellent.

Right I'm going to add a note of caution here.

I bought a car off their next door neighbour a couple of years back, no problem whatsoever with him,

It came with lots and lots of svc history from GT one,

So when the car went back
For some gearbox work
(Under warranty with seller top marks on that one)

However a few months later and as a consequence of the last people touching the plugs on a service I found the receipt for,
One of them unscrewed itself on a motorway trip so a low_loader home,

And further inpection by 'Elite' at northampton revealed the rest hadn't been tightened up either.

Now before other posters come their defence,
I was quite confident in GT prior to this, and beyond the fact they are a couple of hours away,
I would have let them look after it.
But regardless of whether the tea-boy does spark plugs they should have been checked,
could just as easillt have been wheel nuts after all

Very fair comment. Any Porsche garage or any garage for that matter is only as good as its worst mechanic. (or tea boy). Probably why a lot of very good mechanics work on their own

I've been there for a few bits and pieces and some advice. Very helpful and knowledgeable chaps and I wouldn't think twice about leaving my car with them for servicing if I wasn't tied to Porsche GB with the warranty.

They have looked after my car for the last 2 years and can't fault them.
At each service the phone me to let me know what requires doing and
what will need doing at the next service before starting on any work, so
I don't get any nasty surprises in the bill. Very friendly guys always happy to advise you.

To what end?
A protracted blame-fest
Over perhaps 100 miles.

So I send it down there on a flat bed they fix it or not depending,
and then who's paying to return it to me.

No I sent it into a known garage that lots of members here have vouched for, I might of course have gotten a refund for my bill although I suspect they would have wanted to see it themselves.

Instead you probably think I'd rather just complain about it on a public forum

Seems to be descending into another lets-all-rattle-our-Porsche-cufflinks in anger type thread yet again.

We could of course all by our cars off Henry, meekly just follow the herd and get our cars looked at in a so-so fashion,

As I said..... I would have used GT1 if I lived nearer, but I certainly wouldn't volunteer them which is just what I have done,

I went elsewhere
