I've recently done a simple iPod connection to my CDR22 using Becker parts which connect to the CD changer socket. I generally only listen to my iPod on shuffle so was not bothered about control through the head unit.

Think I will be going the Mobridge route for the wife's Cayenne as that's the one we do our holidays / long trips in.

Wires hanging all over the place do my head in. I just burn some cd's in iTunes through a genius playlist and hey presto I've got my music on shuffle. biggrin

It's a CDR23 surely in an '05 GT3...

I have the same setup clearly, and have gone down the mObridge route...CRD23 is fibre-optic MOST system, so needs a decent setup.

It isn't as good as the mObriodge would be with a newer 911...the CDR23 simply recognises the Ipod as a CD changer, and plays the first 6 playlists as CDs 1-6. All you can do is go from track to track. (or you can operate the Ipod manually)

Would I do it again? I think I'd opt for a new Becker head unit instead, as these incorporate Ipod (with track info showing), Satnav and Bluetooth phone, so overall works out as a neater and actually cheaper.

That' s what am doing at the mo.
But 20 songs per cd is a touch limited.

Rob, which becker model are you thinking of? And where would you source it from?

PS: you are still welcome to have a listen to the OETTLE 'music'. smile

This one looks nice...£600 instead of £150 for TomTom, £300 for mObridge & £150 Parrot Bluetooth

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_...

Becker made the CDR23, hence the Becker range tend to suite the 911 interior and look factory.

Still want to hear the Oettle..but off for a 1700 mile trip around Europe next week!

I had this Becker unit in my 993 and I would recommend it. The sat nav isn't as clear visually as a Tom Tom but the voice commands are accurate. Bear in mind that you also have to purchase the ipod lead for £100 to get your ipod connected.

That's the trouble with built in audio units, it's more difficult to upgrade.
Fortunately I think the CD playback is good.

For iPod I use the easy route of a tape adaptor. Yeah, my car has a tape deck LOL. Sound quality is, hmmm, aceptable I guess.

But does this work with the MOST bus on the post 2003 cars? I'm looking for a solution for my C4S and this would be ideal, but I don't want to rip out my Bose amps and the rest of the wiring if I can help it.

the gt3 has no amp. And the sound quality is not so bad actually. I had porsche with sound packs in the past which of course is better, but let us say that i can leave with it.

Would the becker sound quality without any form of amp match the CDR-23 sound?

Not directly.
When wiring in my Pioneer AVIC system, I had to bypass the most system, and wire it directly to the wires that link the speakers in the boot bay. Its not a massive job, but needs someone who knows what they are doing.
The speakers all run different resistances(2 ohm dash and door, 4ohm rears and 1ohm subs).
I plan on eventually running the sub from a small amp, but need to convert the sub 2 ohms at least(hopefully by running the speakers in series.
BTW if someone wants this done, I am in NW London!!

So, I bought the Dension Icelink Plus to connect my CDR22 (996 Facelift '02) - it works, but there are two main issues:

1) Volume is very low
2) There are no controls available on the headunit, and the iPod is then in 'You have an auxiliary device connected' mode, with no controls. You have to start it playing and then connect it.

Install was easy enough - headunit out, replace the scotch block connectors from the multichanger to the Dension kit (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380446676139 was the one) and run the cable out just above the gearshift.

But the lack of volume makes it N/S as a solution.

Any ideas?

Did you sell the 'S', or add to the stable?

Think the thread resurrection may have caused the confusion! He sold the GT3 nearly 3 years ago. It still doesn't have an Ipod connection wink
