997 Turbo Exhaust
Discussion
Hi Newbie here, new into Porsche ownership from owning a 360 for three years, so please be gentle, so far loving the forum.
This morning on Brompton Rd I saw a old shape 911 reg big something, give it full beans and it sounded immense and has made me think I want to change my exhaust.
I am currently running a techart exhaust, I want the car to drone less and for it to be louder at regular speeds, would appreciate anyone who is currently running an aftermarket exhaust if they could recommend one. I've heard Miltek and Tubi are good?

Link to the Milltek site for you, video is on there as well

Gives you an idea of what it will be like..
As someone who supplies Milltek systems I find them apart from being fantastic to deal with the system themselves are excellent quality and reliability however they are on the quiter side, with a good tone, note rather than just being in your face.

Another option for you, pricey but superb quality, fit and finish second to none and mine even came with full fitting instructions and tools to do the job!

It seems much more eager than before and a bigger kick, well worth it imo! Customer Service is touch and go though.
Never quite been happy with my exhaust, that could be because I have come from a 360 although that is the only area where the Ferrari is better.lol
When I was looking at sports exhausts the first thing any retailer asked me was do i have a tip or manual - definitely they seem to work better on manuals... never really investigated why as it didnt affect me. Have a milltek and would highly recommend it, however its not as racy as the tubi so if you want something to really howl & not drone so much then it may not be the best bet. On another thread someone mentioned that Capristo were developing a zorst for the 997tt... that could be interesting.
Did you get a rolling road print-out post your DMS tune ?
As has been mentioned many times before, any aftermarket options will negate Porsche Warranty! My local OPC fitted my Tubi and have been as good as gold until the changes, they will not make any exceptions now!
So if you want an aftermarket exhaust, you will need to take out third party warranty......

Thanks chaps, I want to make it sound like the car I saw today, don't think it was a turbo.
Europipe stage 2 looks quite good, but 2 things it says not recommend for tiptronics and I have one, also shouldn't the exhaust normally be lighter than stock(I may be wrong)
Not necessarily are aftermarket zorsts lighter - the milltek and EP are barely any different to stock - EP I believe uses emitec cats, same as OE but to their own specs and Milltek uses HJS cats. If the car you heard that you liked wasn't a Turbo then that explains a lot, unfortunately all the extra plumbing in Turbo damps the sound (in the cabin at least) so you will NEVER get a sound inside the cabin as good as a N/A 911, particularly something like GT3 (awesome
).
Get someone else to drive your Techart past you at full chat & you will see that drive by Turbo noise & in cabin acoustics are two different things.
By the way beware the LOUD systems they can sound awesome inside at full revs, but the resonance will drive you MAD & outside they can sounds like a tractor at low revs!
