Great photos indeed but some severe BS on GT3 pricing. You cannot buy a Mk1 GT3 for £50k unless it is a sh*t colour LHD that has been to the moon and is rough. The one they tested is a mint LHD that is Zymoled etc from a dealer at £56k. No private sellers that I know of are asking less than £56k for their '99 cars.
I wish journalists would qualify statements in articles as you now have people expecting to find GT3 at c£50k.....
Great article as it correctly points out that the MK1 is a more focussed car than newer MK2.

When it comes to pricing there are no hard and fast rules.

A friend in the trade told me of a GT3 Mk1 available for late thirties recently. OK, so details are sketchy and it is probably a left hooker ringer in Rubystone that has been rebuilt fifteen times and thrashed to oblivion - but it is sub 40k. And they had another GT3 LHD in circuit driver for 42k last month.

I'm sure nice RHD examples go for much more, but it shows that GT3s can be had for reasonable money if you look hard enough and are willing to compromise on spec/history etc.

But what about the spontaneously combusting 928?

A shocker, non?

Really bad. I felt for that guy. A simple PS leak could do that...

Nice holiday Dom?...ignoring the deliberate swipe at my favourite colour I agree with Dom. 6 months ago I did a trawl for GT3 MK 1s and found several road cars (in comfort spec) in the UK at below £50k in lhd. A couple of months ago I came across an rhd one for £50k too.

Does anyone know how much Paul Robe let Sascha Maasen's 2001 racecar go for?

Hi Mark

Holiday was good thanks. Hope you are looking after the Superlight R properly

I may know of a 3.2 1984MY for sale at circa 7500 GBP if you fancy going back to Pork on a budget. At that price you could even get it resprayed in Rubsytone

£50k for a right hookenstein? Lumme!

Seen a few for sub £60k and with all the prattling going on about how they're a toad's scrote nattier than the Mk2 in extremis, I'm quite sure Von Eidelbeck will be saying 'chin, chin' to The Baron soon.

Hang on, what am I saying? No, that's ridiculoso; but maybe as a town car for the wyfe?

Give him 6 months.

P.S. Dom; where are the VIN plates usually located on the beetle? I was quite flugpltazted last time I bothered to check but I'm sure they'd up and gorn!

Dom
PS What have you done to matey's Superlight yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the needle bearings are weak before you come out with some excuses If I remember correctly your 964RS had a little gearbox problem as well - we're not talking about the famous Piper up/downchange again are we?

That 3.2's come down a grand since I first heard about it!...good value at that money though.

As for the 'box - we'll see when RRT open it up - but it has already been rebuilt

I had to subscribe as it was hardly ever in Smiths.

Its sometimes in my Tesco's.

Could you see your local corner shop and ask them to get 1 in for you?
