Porsche do a range of baby seats for which you will pay the earth but they have the advantage of fitting. If you need one that faces rearwards in the front passenger seat then you will need the Porsche one to disable the airbag system.

I have the Porsche Prince seat for 9 months to 4 year olds. I chose a Porsche seat because I thought it would give the best fitting and therefore be safer than an ill-fitting third party seat.
In fact, Porsche's own seat has too much slack in the fitting for me to believe that it is a safe seat. It also does not recline, and does not seem to have a lot of padding. And it's a right bugger to clean.
I have tried a Britax seat in the back which is a tight fit, but I would guess probably much safer in the event of an accident. It's also cheaper, can recline (sort of) and is easier to clean. Just doesn't look as good.

Yes, I had a Prince one and was not impressed... in fact it was pretty crap for the reasons mentionned by Harris above, and my wife would not use it.
We found that the standard aftermarket seat that we had for our family wagon fitted better than the Porsche one... haven't got a clue what make it is though.

You should only get a Porsche seat if you want to place it at the front passenger seat, with a little help from your OPC you can switch off the passenger airbag, when you connect Porsche seat to a seatbelt attachment (this need to be fitted, and costs approx 150GBP). Otherwise you should be able to get a seat from halfords which would easily go in the back and would be far cheaper.

Tried a number of baby seats for rear of my 993. I suspect the issues are identical for 996. None would fit. Waited 'til young 'un was 9kg and now have 2 Princes.

Prince is not an item which inspires confidence as they are loose in the back of the car and have no harnesses within them to restrain the child and resemble no conventional child seat I've seen. Child is held in with large polystyrene bolster held in place by the belts. (which have to be lengthened in 993)
However if you get the adjustment right (difficult with 2 children in the back of a small car), the kids are pretty snug and the seats don't flap about.
Horrible to think about but the main reason for kid's seat is to stop them flying out of the car under deceleration forces generated in a crash rather than providing any kind of crash protection. Prince probably does this as well as others.

No, I changed from a 993 to a 996 for exactly this reason.... very little would fit in the 993, whereas the 996 seemed noticably bigger in the back.... and even a rear facing seat for the 0-9 mths would just fit in the 996, as well as some of the standard baby seats.

I think Porsche were thinking more about golf clubs then Babies...A Cayanne might be the answer
I would rather cut out my heart with a rusty spoon than buy that b@stard offspring of a Hyundai Santa Fe and a warthog.
I find the back seats of a 996 perfectly adequate for transporting two kiddies around, and the boot and rear luggage shelf just about copes with our stuff for a weekend away. God knows why people need SUVs and MPVs just for two kids.

Fine for 2 "kiddies" or even one baby (as you still have the spare rear seat), but not for 2 babies who need prams and half of mothercare's stock on anything more than a very quick trip.
Believe me, I didn't want to get rid of the 996, but with two very young children, you do need a bit more room.... I was so desparate to keep it, that I used to put a luggage box on the roof for week-end trips!!! Anyway in the end, I eventually gave up and bought an MPV (and a little two seater for the boys weekends away)
