Very technical this one - on the 996 did they change the air intake unit at all between 1997/8 & 1999 onwards ?
I am looking to do the orange plug thing....www.smiley.net/orangecap.htm & have seen it written that its only for 1999 996's onwards (right up until 2003 cars)
Anyone know if this is correct & did Porsche change the intake from 1999 cars onwards ??

Just improves the sound of the car somewhat by - I guess - stopping the silencer box from working.
I am not very technical but think thats how it works.

Can't post a direct link but if you go to http://forums.rennlist.com & seach on "orange cap" there is a link called "Got those orange plugs 273-1P now what?" which goes into some detail

The air box on a 3.4 liter C2 is the same for all years. The reason you do not see a reference to a 1998 on a US board is that we did not get the 996 until model year 1999. For model year 1998 the only Porsches sold in the US were the Boxster and 993. Jeff
