1981 LeMans 944 (420-hp)
Discussion
There's one thing about getting 420-hp in a car, but quite another thing to produce that kind of power and thrash the car for 24 hours (3000-miles). This 944 finished 7th overall in the 1981 LeMans 24 hour race. I don't know the weight of this one, but I suspect it was below 2,000 pounds, or very close to it. It's nice to see a company test a product before introducing it to the general public, eh?

It is infact a 944GTP - it used the prototype 2.5 litre engine that was to be used in the 944. The 924 was afterall the basis for the 944 which itself became the 968. So all the same car really, aren't they?
