About to give my final spec for my new Boxster for a January build. Any comments re the Sat Nav - reliable or not. I've only tested it in the showroom and appears a good piece of kit

I'd save the money and buy a PDA based system that you can use in any car and also while walking. Unless of course having the Porsche SatNav increases the resale value when you come to sell it

The general (helpful) oppinion seems to be that the second generation sat nav that's being fitted at the moment is far better then the original, which wasn't exctly flaky anyway.

Street pilot 3, can't fault it as a car to car system.

Cheers folks - has anyone out there got the current system - and does it work well ? Are there any downsides - the bottom line is that I have to convince the bread-knife that it's money well spent

Apart from it slides off the dash every time you poke the loud pedal,,... unless bolted in. and is another 'nickable' item.

In-Dash i would say.

just bought the becker high speed sat/nav that replaces the cdr-22 in my 996 on e-bay for gbp 760 ( 1/2 of rrp) it works very well, although i suppose it depends if you like a big colour screen or not

Never had any problems with mine sliding using the supplied stickey thing. Also being removable much less chance of being nicked.

Sure, but means youhave to carry it around.

No question its a great unit, loved using it..

Just was a PITA having to carry it around . lock it away.

New unit is touch screen too

I used the weighted base with the 'anti slip' pads on, but every time i attempted to poke the pedal it slid off
