Hi all,

I've just bought my first Porsche, a used 996 C2 (1999). I need to put a dipped bulb in as the one in there has blown.

The trouble is I can't pull out the unit after turning the tool that comes with the car (the tool also doesn't turn 180 degrees as the manual says).

Any advice?

Many thanks,

Andy

I have removed many headlights on different cars. Sometimes the tool in the kit is a sloppy fit and it just 'spins.' Try using a 5mm 6 point socket instead. Jeff

Thanks.

My tool fits a treat and I get a click when I turn it. The headlight becomes slightly loose, though doesn't slide out.

Should I need to use force to dislodge the unit?

Not sure but assume it's the same as on the 996 TT (lights are a different shape) but you need to rotate the tool as per the instructions and then both the tool and the lamp unit need a bit of gentle wiggling to get it out I had this problem first time around - but you shouldn't need to force anything - hope that helps.

Took this problem to Dick Lovitt and they couldn't do it until they shone a light under it. The problem was caused by the unit getting caught on the top of the front spoiler.

Cheers,

Andy
